Council race in Durham leans towards Reform

We're now hearing that Reform just needs to pick up one more seat in Durham to gain control of the council.

We've got reporters at the count and will update you as soon as that result becomes clear.

One day one of the two big parties will stop, take their heads out of their arses and listen to the public. That is of course if they are one of the big parties by then.

    I wouldn’t hold your breath.
From my nearly 59 years on this planet I’ve learned that politicians are not really interested in their constituents but rather in holding onto power.
I read a book by David Niven called The Moons a Balloon which is essentially his story of how he became a movie star.
He was one of the first British actors to give up his new career in Hollywood to return to the UK and rejoin the army to fight in WW2. During this part of the book he describes his chats with Winston Churchill and how he knew that the Japanese would attack Pearl Harbor. His reply was “because, my boy, I study history”.
I mention this because I think it’s a pertinent statement for what is happening with politics both in the UK and my adopted homeland here in Oz. Whilst I don’t say for one second that I’m intelligent or perceptive if we look at how the masses were treated at the beginning of the 20th century by the ruling classes it is no surprise that they were eventually deposed. To my mind at least, the governments are doing the same again and treating those that voted them into power with disdain. The people will eventually get to the point where they have had enough and will get rid of their leaders and replace them with others that they think will do a better job. Basically those in power now need to study history and learn from it although I doubt they will.

I think we are watching a big shift in UK politics, and possibly beginning of the end for the tories. Their voter age demographic is not in their favour at all, hardly any younger voters are pitching for them (I think something like over a third of their voters are 65+)

Over to Labour to see how they respond, I've said before I'm a Labour member but hope this gives them a kick in the arse as even I think they are going about things wrong way...even if we do have no money at all.

Proof, imo, that Labour and Conservative are useless beyond belief. That is if anyond even needed proof.

This so called Labour govt had the political world at their feet after the conservatives got the big boot. What have they done? Plenty wrong is what. They have gone after the elderly. They have made rank bad economic choices such as increasing NI. They have shown themselves as freeloaders like the tories. Uturned in election promises. Why all the bad stuff? Oh we had a big black hole! Aye, partly of your own making. Spin, spin and bloody spin.

Have we seen any green shoots yet? Nothing I would say. Not even a plan. Budgets that make your toes curl. Maybe if the chancellor stopped going to concerts free of charge she wouldnt forget to declare the tickets and waste time on that.

Long overdue we had a political shift that sees the two big parties gone. They are a parody of each other. But dear me Farage and his rag tag band cant be it. What a state.

Everybody keeps saying Farage is a two faced twat but seem to forget everyone is voting for him. So what must they think of the two faced twats in power.
Give me strength what a pile of useless bastards we have as MPs. Happy as larks stuffing their pockets.

Well I did my bit for democracy today and voted in our national election. I had no choice, it’s compulsory to vote here. The telly pundits are saying that the Australian Labor Party are likely to get re-elected. As I’ve said in previous posts though, you can’t trust any of them.

I wonder if the “Establishment”organised Harry’s court ruling for yesterday to dilute the Reform story?

Farage is rattling cages again, say what you like but he knows how to galvanise the people and get them to the polling stations to vote. Something 2 tier Kier can’t do, sooner the fraud is gone the better. Make Britain Great Again

For those who support Farage, could I ask …

… which of his policies are the ones that attract you most?

Paul Weller said (sang) it best

What you see is what you get
You've made your bed, you better lie in it
You choose your leaders and place your trust
As their lies wash you down and their promises rust
You'll see kidney machines replaced by rockets and guns
And the public wants what the public gets….

I’m worried living under a Reform council tbh. Not sure why, fear of the unknown maybe.

The one good thing about all this is they’ll be ordering proper investigations into grooming gangs which the Labour councils blatantly covered up.

I really don’t know anything about Reform or Farage but I can tell you why people are attracted to his brand of politics. He is telling people that being British/English is nothing to be ashamed of (which it isn’t). The British public on the whole are fed up with mainstream politics and Farage offers, to them, an alternative based on national pride. Whether or not their manifesto can deliver, I wouldn’t have a clue, but that’s why the public are attracted to him. I don’t want to draw comparisons between 1930s Germany or Italy, but their messages were the same.

For me it’s mainly his immigration policies, I don’t believe it’s possible to stop it quickly but in particular stopping students family visas is important, too many come in under the pretence that they are here to study then bring their families over and surprise surprise stop studying. The boats bollocks can be stopped in a crack but successive governments have failed on that one, let’s not forget though it was Labour who opened the flood gates. It’s the working class towns that are having them dropped on their doorsteps not the liberal lefties in their quaint little villages dripping with money, drop a bus load off in the Cotswolds and see the outrage
