And in a nutshell this shows what an ill-thought out **** show randomly allocated pseudo-devolution under the guise of levelling up or regional democracy really is.

Governments of both colours going back 30 years are responsible for this absolute mess - as they are for the nonsense of patently unequal situations in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales (for example student loans) and a ridiculous governance mess in education (academies Vs LEA control). All caused by ignorant and biased politicians with their eye on the main chance.

Shame on the lot of them.

Quite different from the photos of the hundreds of 'single men of fighting age' coming over on the boats every day (no, not saying there aren't women and children occasionally, but they are the exception).
Reminds me of the photo of him sat on the floor of that 'packed' train .... that wasn't packed at all but had loads of empty seats!! (no, not saying our train system is ok, it isn't, it's a disgrace ..... just like Corbyn).

How long can it take to count the votes? All the others have been announced I think and ours has only 30% turnout to count

 

Done of the others took only about 27% I believe but I suppose 28% of some areas such as sparse Lincs is a lot less than other areas. I’m pretty sure this result is correct but I guess they are waiting for a perfect public moment - bit like City’s signings !!!

 

ER (not Hull) results...

East Riding results announced
The results for the East Riding have been announced. We're still waiting for Hull. They show Luke Campbell with a large lead:

Luke Campbell (Reform UK): 29,907

Mike Ross (Liberal Democrats): 20,341

Anne Handley (Conservatives): 19,969

Margaret Pinder (Labour): 11,369

Rowan Halstead (Yorkshire Party): 3,297

Kerry Harrison (Green): 3,097

 

See the Greens ended up where they belong. Less than the Yorkshire Party.

 

Labour are ****ed in Hull!

 

I really don’t think they are, or at least not any more than most of the parties. There’s enough comments on this thread, and I’ve spoken to enough of my mates IRL, to know that people who weren’t voting Reform were looking for the best option to keep them out.

And that was the LibDems.

What that says about all of the other parties is a different question though

 

Think Labour will lose at least one of their seats in Hull to Reform in the next GE, probably East or North (might be both).

 

I think you just confirmed Labour are goosed in Hull. If your mates thought the Labour candidate could win, they would have voted so. They didn't and opted for the LidDem.

 

Far more Labour voters switched to Reform than voted tactically for the LD's. The old parties now need to reflect on these results, populism is gaining power.

 

Don't agree with his politics but hopefully the fact he's a City fan bodes well for tomorrow.

 

They did, but on the basis of a one-off vote that not many people were taking all that seriously - hence the really pitiful turnout.

I’d see it more like the European elections we used to have - clearly highly embarrassing for Labour, but in some ways typical of that type of ‘unimportant’ election relatively soon after a General Election.

None of which means the last couple of days haven’t been pretty seismic. The fact that tactical voting was widespread and Reform still won is significant, I just don’t buy that it tells you as much yet as Reform supporters hope it does.
