According to football league world Inigo Calderon could leave the Rovers when Rovers are relegated this Summer and it names three replacement Rovers MUST target to replace him. Personally I think the board should try their utmost to keep him on board and sort out the playing squad with some members of same hinting that they are not on board in the attempt to keep Rovers in league 1 Sort the squad out early, preferably before pre season starts to get everyone knowing what is expected of them and hanging on to Shaw, J Ward, Thomas, Connor Taylor and Hunt if they can get him fit and along with Omochere, Sotiriou and 1 new striker and a Midfield capable of creating chances for our strikers then we might just bounce back at the first attempt I appreciate this is my opinion and I don't expect everyone to agree with me but I do believe that Inigo Calderon is a good manager and we should try to keep him on board
I don't agree. I think Calderon should go. I like him, he's a nice chap and he could be a good coach but he is very inexperienced and he presided over a total collapse in form at the worst possible time. I honestly thought we were safe with 42 points and 10 games to go - and we should have been - so to be relegated from that position is shameful. In addition, I don't believe that Calderon has the ability and experience to get us out of League 2 at the first time of asking. We have plenty of players on long contracts so whoever's manager in L2 will have a significant number of the current, failing squad to work with. Calderon has proved that he can't get a tune out of these players - I think it needs someone with experience and a willingness to boot people up the arse to get anything out of this lot.
Bluebaldee go on the Rovers website and read B24/7, Maybe you might change your mind when you read the article or letter sent to our Chairman, things stated which I had heard rumours about and if true could possibly be one of the reasons for our relegation
I've read it, OT, but it hasn't changed my mind. I agree with much of it, especially about the deafening silence from the ownership, but the fact remains that Calderon failed to keep us up with a dreadful last 10 games. Does AlSaeed jnr pick the team? I don't know - that's just a rumour currently - but if he does interfere extensively that's no good at all. But a strong manager and coaching staff should be able to tell him to back off, and should be coaching to instil fitness, tactics and ability into the players they've got. That hasn't happened at all. I'd get rid of the lot of them - Calderon, Horseman etc. James Wilson claimed that players were unfit and hadn't worked hard enough in training. That's not the owner's responsibility, that's down to the coaching staff. AlSaeed needs to speak to fans, explain what went wrong, explain how they're going to rectify matters and tell us what's happening with the stadium (like they promised to back in January).
The rumours heard several months ago was that the chairman's son stated who was signed and who wasn't, and Taylor implied off interfering in an interview a couple of weeks ago on the web site and if the players are not trying which after attending the home games this season and he is unable to drop that player because of board room interference then it makes sense. I still believe he is the right manager for the club and if the board back him and stop interfering then he just might have a chance A good article from Taylor Moore on Bristol Live on the web site worth a read
Unless there is someone available who has good experience of getting teams out of L2 (but the right way into L1 and not through the trap door into non league again), then I think we should stick with the manager we have. He hasn't been given the chance to build his own team. He has had to work with players that don't care about the club and who he doesn't want at the club. But it doesn't actually matter whoever is the manager because it won't work of if you have someone else interfering and controlling things who shouldn't. It will never work. This season is evident of that. If nothing changes, we could very well see ourselves heading back to non league in 12 months time.
I see some people want Joey Barton back. If that happens, I'm gone. I see some people want Darrell Clarke back. I wouldn't be against that but it doesn't usually work out well when you bring someone 'back'. And I can't stomach Steve Evans if he becomes a target for us. I just want us to have our Rovers back. It's been a long time. Some will say we had them back in our promotion season under Barton. For me though, that wasn't as I felt like it wasn't my club while he was here.
I don't even know what to expect next season or what to even look forward to. Usually when a club goes down, they will be in the discussions of going back up or at least having a strong season. For us, in L2, we should be the biggest spenders and players wanting to join us. Right now, I wouldn't want to join the club. I think it will be a horrible season. Sorry to be all doom and gloom but there is no light at the end of the tunnel from what I can see at the moment when you hear really negative stuff behind the scenes at the club.
Back down to the National league and if that happens then I think I would be in favour of DC returning, at least he found some good non league players who boosted our team
