I see you are very confused :bandit: and I have no desire in taking on each of your points but will address two.

Biological sex is binary since there are only two types of gametes that bodies can be structured for with no intermediate types of sex cells at all.

99.8% of births are unaffected males or females. Of the 0.2% of births that are intersex, the vast majority are unambiguously male or female. When talking about men and women this intersex group isn't included. And just to be clear, intersex is not a medical condition.

    * https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intersex

Nothing confused about me. And I'd be surprised, if not staggered to learn that over 0.2% of the population are surgically, gender-realigned. I know there is a (highly disputed) claim that 0.7% of the population identify as trans, but they're not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about those that have undergone gender realignment (I used the example of Colin Campbell). To deny these people women-only facilities based upon their chromosomes is absurd. It's vicious bullying and has more to do with spite than protecting women (or men).

I love everyone mate. I just believe in truth and in this case, biology.

How many trans people do you have in your life? I've got 2 and we love and respect each other and each other's rights to privacy and dignity.

I'm not sure why, and so not going to speculate why, but I think 0.7% might have been accurate a while ago, or for older generations. If you look at kids in middle school/high school the number would be much higher probably in the 2% or higher range. I'm saying that anecdotally having kids in school not because I've read any studies. Chances are in every classroom there is at least one person who identifies as something other than what is on their birth certificate.

F*** the Tories, F*** Reform will do. I just keep silent when the UK National Anthem is played. Anyhow, you Scousers are no match to Barcelona and Athletic fans when it comes to booing a national anthem.

I think in many cases it's semantics. Often people argue with each other over something and which side of the argument people are on depends on how they define a word. I think "sex" and "gender" are two of those words- people fight over the definition, but I think the important part is we just treat everyone right and protect them regardless of what we think "sex" and "gender" is.

I think the main point is we don't mistreat anyone even if we don't agree with the way they live their life.

    Oh and....

One of the things I love about you is your honesty. Also your open mindedness and willingness to listen. You are one of the shining lights on here.

I agree wholeheartedly that we need to protect everyone. For my part, I have to deal in the truth. In the same way I wouldn't affirm a friend who was anorexic by suggesting they lose weight, I haven't told my trans nephew that he is actually a woman. He knows he isn't a woman. He just likes presenting as female, doesn't want to go in women's changing rooms and can't understand fellow trans women who do.

There’s no such thing as transgenderism. It’s a physical and biological impossibility for a man to become a woman and a woman to become a man. It’s nothing more that bodily mutilation and cosplaying.

Most of it though is anutogynephilia and blatant misogyny.

Misogynistic men telling women they have no right to say no to them being in female toilets and female only spaces

I think it is a subject that requires simplifying.
Scholars - through studying create a lot of good.

however the need to over complicate everything in a quest for knowledge appears to me to only have one obvious conclusion.

again this maybe over simplifying but was the human race not in a situation where the turning on of the Red Hadron Collider (deliberate that <laugh>) had the potential to wipe out civilisation ? Yet we still turned it on ?

Will one wrong move with AI have potentially serious ramifications.

    Will drop VAR here too
    So many examples

Humans have a propensity for self destruction and whilst I realise that I am away from the original discussion - I am simply pointing out that maybe - just maybe somethings need simplifying - I believe this topic requires that.

sometimes - the parent just has to say no to the child but that over arching theme appears to have been lost.

I'm quite happy to move away from the original topic because, as I said, it's not my area of expertise and I was merely advocating tolerance of all sides rather than taking sides.
I have little inclination to contribute further to it.
I will say that I don't think the LHC ever ran the risk of "wiping out civilisation" - that was just the usual gut reaction from the uninformed when they hear terms like "creating a black hole" etc, without any clear knowledge of the science involved.
That just seems to me to be akin to people who were afraid of trains or cars, or more recently 5G - just a natural fear of things we don't understand.
I agree that we do have a propensity for self-destruction though, as witnessed by those refusing to accept the evidence for climate change for instance, to justify ever-increasing industrialisation for short-term gain.
Anyway, this is a football thread and I think this conversation probably belongs in the pub, so I'll leave it here.

I'm sorry for my part in prolonging the derailment of the thread. I always research the hell out of any subject that I'm not overly familiar with before engaging in a discussion and I'm always open to having my mind changed.

This topic is very contentious and doesn't belong in this thread. Dribs lit the blue touch paper and retired <laugh>

Biological sex is binary. Intersex is complicated because without being classed as a disorder in itself, it involves all sorts of disorders but it is still only a combination of the two sexes. Otherwise what is the third sex, or fourth or fifth? In its simplest form it's akin to saying that people born with limbs or fingers missing or with any one of multiple kinds of genetic conditions, for example, are different types of humans. The studies, some of which I've read, that say sex isn't binary talk about, for example, a baby girl born with one ovary as being outside of the binary and once a child starts growing, a boy who has interests in typical girl pursuits as being outside the binary. It's mind boggling and insane but interesting at the same time. Humans are complex beings. Defining sex isn't.

Anyway that's me over and out on this one. Again, apologies and I hope nobody has taken offence at anything I've said. That has certainly not been my intention.

Yeah, it's got very GC for a football thread, and I moved away from GC for a reason. Besides which we sort of have a politics thread started by Milk on here (US politics, anyway) if anyway wants to do this stuff. Apologies from me too for getting too involved.

This is the most fantabulous time in football since 2019 for us Reds, possibly even since Istanbul. Let's enjoy this summer - it's going to be crazy. Over to Liverpool for the Bank Holiday at Whitsun. No tickets for the Palace game, but walking from my sister's to the ground to applaud the coach and watch the game and the trophy presentation n a pub or on the plaza, and all that. Then the parade.... Oh my, getting giddy. <diva>

Remember when giving a guard of honour was not a contentious issue? You only need to go back to whenever anyone but Liverpool won the league with games to spare, tbh... :emoticon-0112-wonde
