The likes of Miss Coward should not be riding in this race...E.O.S....only had two winners and 40 odd career rides over the last 5 years...should be an experience threshold that prescribes such riders competing in such races.

Well done those on GC...early chrimbo present!!

    Nice effort that Hardy <applause>

After this week's heavy losses (particularly on Paul Nicholl's horses - why do they always lose when I back them and romp home when I don't?) I think I'll be restricting myself to a few lines on the placepot tomorrow :(

What do you guys make of this? Backed a horse for tomorrow which didn't make the race (balloted out). Bookies put it down as a 'Lost' bet and only refunded it when I contacted them and explained the protocol for horses balloted out even if backed antipost. That means anyone who doesn't contact them won't get their stake back. Slimey slimey crooks.

<laugh> You say that but at the end of the chat I almost wrote 'don't forget to refund everyone else's stake too' but I thought he might just close my account!!

It did but if you were sensible and laid it off you should have made money regardless!

You have to take it whether you fancy the outcome or not. It's a no brainer.

I was nowhere near quick enough <laugh> but I agree. Unless you really fancied Somersby I guess. Had a look on their website and their preview tips up Grandouet so they might go large on him....

edit. turns out I wouldn't have been able to get on anyway!

Right guys Prescient has got in as a reserve to the 6.00 Dundalk and is a massive 25/1 with Bet365 and 10s everywhere else. LTO she made her debut for Ger Lyons and ran a very credible 5.5L 5th when she was effectively conceding 15lb to the winner. Shane Foley takes the ride and I think back in handicap company off 66 she has a great shout but I wouldn't be going nuts, but you wouldn't need to at that price. My write up from last week is below

I've been waiting for the debut of Prescient for Ger Lyons for a long time and this happens in the 6.30 at Dundalk tomorrow. This 3 year old filly made her debut in July last year when she posted an excellent 3rd 1.75L behind the excellent Misty for me and 0.5L behind Katla who is a dual Listed winner and is now rated 105. Back in 4th was Why who is herself a 96 rated horse who has been campaigned in predominantly Listed and Group Class (although never a factor) by Aiden O'Brien since. A 170,000G purchase, she is quite a well bred filly and it has been really disappointing to see her lack of progression since her debut. She has disappointed on every start subsequently and has not even managed to be a factor even off a rating as low as 69 since (although she ran an ok race 2 starts back in July at the track when beaten 2.5L).

I think its a strong indication that this filly is far better than what she has shown as she has left Frank Dunne to join the excellent Ger Lyons stable. Her debut for this yard comes after over a 4 month break which should be definitely enough time for Ger Lyons to revitalise her if she is ever going to recapture her old form. She looks to have a tough task on her official ratings but with Gary Phillips 7lb claim she only has 7lb to find with favourite Duff and 17lb with Angel's Pursuit. She has a handicap mark of 66 and if Ger Lyons can return her to her former self then she looks incredibly well handicapped on her debut run. She's 25/1 tomorrow which I think is a fair reflection of her chances but if she shows any glimpes of regaining her ability tomorrow she's definitely one to keep an extremely close eye on this season. I've popped a little message on Ger Lyons Facebook to see if he'll say how she's got on at the yard and if he replies I'll update the page.

Have a gander at Biting Back as a small e/w at 7.30 Dundalk.

Ger Lyons said today he thinks winter series is a good way to teach young jockeys the ropes but said that Biting Back would need a stronger ride. He's put Latham on for a more experienced ride and I'm hopeful of a decent run.
