Whatever they do with the rules, Mullins will adapt to it if - if he wants to keep winning the title. He is just an extremely talented person who gets the best out of an incredibly talented team. The performance he managed to eke out of Il Etait Temps yesterday was unbelievable after a year's absence.
I think that’s probably right Oddy. However I personally don’t think it’s a great look for the sport that any trainer can flood the late season prestige handicaps hoping to win but knowing he’ll cash in on the place prize money. You can easily argue it the other way too though that Skelton has amassed much of his 3.5 mill through average races at lesser tracks.
I guess one solution might be to make the champion trainer based on number of winners, like the champion jockey. In fact I've no idea why the two are based on different criteria. Seems weird.
