Looks like Leicester's loophole has been closed - https://www.efl.com/news/2025/april...rofit---sustainability-rules-approved-at-egm/ Probably time for a championship fred soon?
The AR flagged the guy in the middle. No way he flagged that off. I don’t believe for a second that you couldn’t freeze frame that at a different frame of the ball leaving the boot and have the comfortably onside. The paint on the front of your boot should not be enough to give a decision.
Outstanding game. Inter excellent in this second half and really having a go at the high line of Barca. I really wish the offside rule would get changed. There is literally no advantage in having the attackers toes ahead when the ball is played. It’s level. If they are going with automated offsides I reckon they should add half a yard of safety zone or margin of error or whatever you call it.
There's no point having the technology if you're adding that level of margin of error. VAR has plenty of issues but I don't have any issue with the accuracy of calling offside.
The point is that it is not the way the sport is meant to be played. Offside is supposed to stop you gaining an unfair advantage by goal hanging, not make it illegal to have a toe beyond the defender. Change the law to match the tech. At least measure from the trunk only.
The ease of Man U and Tottenham's European semi finals victory who are 14 and 16th respectively in the Premier League shows why promoted teams are struggling.
