I think we remind Trump that it is America First !

No one has mentioned that 64 African immigrants killed in yesterday's air raids on Yemen.

I think we need to stop treating the middle east and north africa like an area of lesser humans who we can bomb as we like. Everything we have done since 9/11 has made the world worse - and we have no high moral ground on this. The Israel situation needs to be solved urgently.

This I think, throws up some good discussion points because although the arguments are quite obviously linked, renewables and climate change don't have to be inseparable. In other words you can have doubts about the causes and effects of climate change while still being fully behind renewables.

The most annoying part I find is that we have largely caused the issues by quickly growing (worldwide) over the last 120-150 years. The irony is we have developed so far, that we now also have the know how and the technology (largely) to either fix or mitigate it, but we are too busy arguing amongst ourselves and point scoring (Nations that is not us), than actually collectively doing anything about it.

It’s rather the good job to ‘steer’ things and they’ll be aiming for cheaper and more secure energy to encourage growth and reduce energy poverty

Not saying it’s simple though, it’s not

When it comes to utter unfettered nonsense on twitter, its really not a left vs right issue. How is this even allowed?

You could say the same about these posts, but rather than call him out they were liked.

Now there has been a criminal trial where the actual facts have been heard (not a biased view presented as facts) and the officer concerned cleared by a jury, does Thumwood and those that liked his post have any further comments?

Thumwood spouts some really offensive stuff on here yet is never threatened with a ban or even censured. He actually gets likes for it instead.

I did ask him post trial if he had anything further to add (as the people calling him out for those posts were an extremely tiny minority) I didn't get a reply.....

Ha, following IOAG’s link back into the past (glad to say I was not condemning the police officer), I then found this a couple of pages later. Who would have thought we would now have a Labour government who actually did cut welfare for the disabled?

A company run by Prince Andrew, designed to help fund his lavish lifestyle, has been discovered to have close links to the millionaire husband of disgraced peer, Michelle Mone. But its probably a coincidence, nothing that a quick interview with the BBC can't clear up

The case of Chris Kaba continues to be controversial. I was very surprised that the police officer was not found guilty and i wonder if a conviction would have happened of charged with manslaughter.

The news that the IOPC feels that Martyn Blake needs to be charged with Gross Misconduct is a separate issue to the murder charge and appertains to the fact that the strict procedures for firearms officers were not followed. Unsurprisingly, the Metropolitan Police, who have a track record for institutional racism , are opposed to this action. The current action purely appertains to Blake's poor judgement. I do not understand why the other members of rhe team are not facing the same process. The whole scenario underscores why the Black community has much to be suspicious about the Met

The answer to these kinds of tragedies is obvious and that is to take firearms off the street whether it is criminals or police officers. Our police force is supposed to operate by consent. The police were unaware of Kaba's identity until after he was shot. Not sure that this is what the British public expect of the police especially when you consider they thought it fit enough to employ Wayne Couzins.

Despite IOAG's hysteria , i would suggest most sensible people would agree with the above.

Seriously? On what basis are you making the very bold claim that the officer didn't follow "the strict procedure for firearms officers?"

-Have you read the comments from Sal Naseem (IOPC) regarding why the charge was levied?
-What qualifies you to opine that the officer showed poor judgement? Have you ever professionally carried a firearm?
-Have you ever had someone drive a 1.2 tonne vehicle at you, when you've got a duty to stop them?
-If other members of the team felt the same way and would have taken the same actions does that not suggest to you that they were acting very much within their training?
-If "all guns" are off the streets, who's taking them from the criminals? Who responds to terror attacks?
-Do you understand Common Law right to self defence, S76 CJIA, S3 CLA and S117 PACE?

And finally the really big question that tankies never real feel like answering, what would you have done to resolve the situation in the same circumstances?

Let's not forget though that Kaba shot at more members of the Black community then the Met did the year he died.

Why would that have made any difference? Returning a guilty verdict on manslaughter is almost always an option at a murder trial isn't it?

You are ignoring the fact that there are strict rules for officers when discharging fire arms and rules regarding the behaviour of firearms officers. These were allegedly not adhered to albeit i do not know what exact procedure was not followed. This may been something that happened prior to the shooting such as how Kaba's car was blocked in.

Something went wrong with the operation and a man died as a consequence. How would you feel of a member of your family was shot and killed due to competence issues with police officers who had failed to adhere to their strict training ?

Thought so. The 3 options given by the judge for ones I've had an 'interest' (for want of a better word) in have been guilty of murder, not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter, or not guilty.

Always therefore assumed that was standard procedure.

They. Did. Not. Act. Outside. Of. Their. Training.

Where are you getting the information that they didn't follow procedure and/or protocol?
