He was terrible. The guy has had a bad Season all-round.

Was I injured for 2-3 months then played without a break - Im pretty sure he's been having some injury fitness issues.

This is why we need ore depth in the squad.. Rice, Odegaard, Saka, Saliba should be rested at times.

What a horrible way to moderate.
The rules should be the rules, regardless of what other people want.
If 10 men and one woman get stranded on an island and the 10 men decide rape will be fine, that doesnt make it right,
Cockface has done next to **** all.
    ****ing precious bunch

To try and bring some vague positives out of it. We did better statistically against PSG than Liverpool did. But then again PSG just let us have the ball I feel as they weren't chasing the game so it's a hollow point.

But also, we have glaring gaps in our squad. To play as well as we did is not too bad given it's quite clear how we can improve. It's not so obvious how a team like PSG improves. They're almost at their ceiling. A bloody impressive ceiling but all they really could to improve their team last night is add in a centre-back. On the other hand, we could improve by having Gabriel, Partey, an upgrade on Martinelli and a proper striker. So at the very least and with some straw clutching, we weren't far off a top PSG team who themselves are far closer to their ceiling than we are. Maybe.

A proper press-resistant #6 is vital. That was shown last night. Rice needs to be the #8. And Odegaard either needs to get back to his best next season or moved on. If his current season is his new norm then he’s not good enough.

The tie is still very winnable.
1 goal win away from home isnt impossible.
Is Partey back for the second leg?

Last night showed how much we miss Partey in MF.

PSG first goal they just waltzed through our midfield. I've not seen that happen all season and with no proper DM in there it just made their transitions too easy.

I agree Rice needs to be a no8, box to box. He's the attacking link up in our midfield. Partey is a no6 a proper DM who breaks up play, shields the back four and links the defence and midfield going forward.

Odegaard has been badly off form since he's come back from injury. He looks like he's been unwell too, a shadow of himself at the moment, but talk of moving him on is ridiculous. He's our captain and you don't cut loose one of your most creative players because he's having a bad spell.

    Yep he is.

And as I'd just written above, last night showed how badly we missed him.

Our MF is SO much stronger with him in there, as Rice is able to get forward and be more of a threat linking up with the attacking players.

We were a bit shell shocked after the goal so early last night and so were the fans. I think there were some who thought this was going to be another Real Madrid at home again and we'd roll them over. But PSG are a well organised outfit.

We need to go to Paris and take some risks. We also need to get about them and disrupt their play. Both Villa and Liverpool showed that you can score goals against this PSG team, but last night we were like a rabbit in the headlights.

Respectfully, that is an egregious example and also not relevant.

This isn't the first time I've had complaints about Cockface and if people are saying they don't want to use the forum or feel less inclined to come on not606 because of the stuff he's posting/constant gifs/WUMming, I can't not take those concerns seriously. They have to be addressed in some capacity, especially if it pertains to Arsenal members.

I don't want to ban anyone and I don't want to be difficult, but like I said, if multiple people are complaining/have complained about the same person, it needs to be dealt with.

We've spoken on PM and I won't ban him for now, but that he should relax a bit with posting on here until things cool off.

He's losing his mind a bit... The thing is winning trophies isn't as easy as some fanbases once thought. I waited my entire life 'so far' for one and we came close so many times.

A miss is as good as a mile in football, but when you keep coming close, it's difficult to take, and people start getting complexes.

It's better to hold the position you'll never win anything and that way you become invincible.

I didn't understand why we started Trossard yesterday. It didn't seem to be a natural fit and also he's not a duel winner/can play with his back to goal.

May be slightly controversial, but why not play Merino as CF, move Lewis-Skelly into midfield and then play Zinchenko/Tierney at LB? Might have been risky defensively, but would have given us a better opportunity to win second balls, ground duels and also provide us with more central running power and progress in the middle of the pitch. Would also allow us to control the ball better.

And even if Trossard was going to start, why not make changes/subs earlier? Odegaard came off after 90 mins and Nwaneri had 5 mins to do something. What was he supposed to do with that?

Overall, just felt like there were too many square pegs in round holes and PSG's technical quality and energy in the middle did get too much for us in the first 30 mins.

We did adjust but the damage had been done and it took us too long to get into our stride. There were also moments where they played through our press or retained the ball easily without us laying a glove on them.

    It is winnable, but:
    a) We're going to have to perform far better than that
    b) we simply need to take our chances in Paris; there is no room for error when it comes to finishing
    c) we're going there knowing we need to win
    d) PSG don't need to win, a draw would still see them progress. So they can set up to just dominate possession and take the sting out the game

As I said yesterday, the tie is 70-30 in their favour now. Not an insurmountable deficit, but it's still quite a difficult position we've put ourselves in.

Agree we underperformed especially in the first 30 minutes, but also the referee wanted to take the limelight and I do believe it had a 20% impact on the game, that decision against Saka was diabolical (Linesman gave a foul against him who was 3ft away!, clearly he won the ball fairly) and then the ref yellow carded him for playing on and kicking the ball, just one example.
The early yellow card on Trossard was not necessary either!

Saka did push him initially with his hands on his back though. A very light push mind and I feel Mendes over-egged the effect it had on him with his ludicrous playacted over-stumble, but if that light push happened to one of our players I reckon most of us would be justifying it being given as a foul.

The yellow card on Trossard was absurd though.

Surely constant trolling is ban-able? He's on here all time and I don't think I've seen one sensible post.(until just now)

He deserves a ban IMO. Give him a month off.

I mean, if you call bantzing "trolling".
Anyway, I shouldnt have spoken up, I dont mod this board so it aint really for me to say what is and isnt bannable, but I kept bans on my board for people posting illegal or gross things, or spam bots, or people that were just being nasty. Not for posting a cheeky gif when we lost.
