The circus that is QPR continues. I have a bad feeling about next season. A rebuild again which on one of these occasions will see us end up in League One. Biggest concern is we continue to be loss-making which obviously is not sustainable.

Not great timing when they’re pushing season ticket renewals. Gary O’Neil would be my preference but not sure he’d be happy with any package we could offer.
Wouldn't it be nice to have some continuity with a manager? And a long term plan? I'm sorry to see Marti go: I get some of the criticisms made - selections, tactics, manner of departure - but, to me, our time together didn't seem to have run its course. Clive's article on LFW is a well-balanced analysis. I'd love to know what's been going on behind the scenes.
My take on this is that Marti went to Nourry asking for more money next season, was told probably his requests are unrealistic, he did his farewell lap around the pitch, made some vague statements about aiming higher and how much he respects the fan base and then told his agent to check the market Enter the Baggies, he goes for a swift cortado at a Starbucks outside Dudley and let it be known to the media QPR had no option but to place him on GL until an official approach is made to ensure compensation I suspect Marti has engineered this situation, not the Club

I can feel my interest in all things QPR rapidly waning. I'll go to some Tuesday night games next year when convenient, but I'll watch us on TV far less often and follow the chatter far less. Unless, of course, we start the season with two wins on the bounce in which case I'll be completely hooked. Football fans? Fickle? Does feel exhausting though - just can't be bothered.
Clive's article , as usual, is a very interesting read.. I feel very honest and probably as correct as anyone on the outside can be. What Clive says about us being exactly where we should be (15th) in the league under Marti is very telling Sad times..we need the compensation from WBA or whoever..we don't want to pay off Martis contract. We need some one decent in..who can keep us at least on par

Sounds like the club just need a 'yes' man. Someone who will do as he's told and play Madsen every game, work with only having one left back who doesn't even want to be there, play a style that doesn't suit the vast majority of players, be grateful that we have a head of development living on the other side of the world. We need a strong manager or should I say coach not a weak one.
As long as it’s not Too Dim Tim Sherwood or after 53 years supporting this club, l’ll threaten to jump ship …… and then some. Footnote - Doctors have told me not to jump or get excited.

The Spaniard, who was put on gardening leave by Rangers last night, has been linked with The Hawthorns - replacing Tony Mowbray - and also the job at Norwich City. According to BBC Radio WM, West Brom have not offered the job to anyone and are "continuing with their recruitment process". Cifuentes was appointed as QPR boss in October 2023, replacing Gareth Ainsworth, and led them to Championship safety, having taken over when they were second from bottom.
So now what happens. We can't employ anyone until Marti leaves...so we are stuck. Noone will come and buy him out...because at a certain point he will become a free agent. So we will eventually have to pay him off. Well done QPR...a perfect own goal
He approached them, or his agents did. And made it public. Whittingham says he was doing the same last summer but less publicly. In those circumstances I think sacking without compensation would be appropriate and doubtless that is what the lawyers are working on, while he is doing a feed and weed on his lawn. How can he take training and motivate the squad when they all know he wants out? Why would an ambitious club like West Brom be interested in Cifuentes and his sub 33% Championship win record and history of never staying at a club beyond 2 seasons?
My understanding about ‘paying off’ in these circumstances is that the sacked manager gets his wages every month for the remainder of his contract, or a part of the remainder - unless he gets another job, when the compensation stops. Presuming no ‘lump sum’ option was written into the contract. So when Roberto Di Matteo (and I suspect Graham Potter) was sacked by Chelsea he didn’t bother trying to get a new job because it was too lucrative doing nothing for years. I doubt Cifuentes is in that boat and doubtless Stoke or Preston will soon be paying his wages for a bit.
When has gardening leave ever turned into "welcome back, we've missed you!"? He's off and we now start the process of looking for a successor and we are back in the territory of who would want to come? rather than who would we like. I don't know if it is a tempting offer to join a very small mid-table club where you can't buy anyone, all you can do is get free transfers and loanees or hope that there are some hungry stars in waiting in our youth team. Still, wouldn't be QPR without a bit of drama!
It wouldn't be QPR without ripping everything up and starting again every ****ing eighteen months. It's boring and achieves nothing.
