Not surprised by the result but the performance sounds awful We need to get our act together for PNE and fast Leeds, Burnley and Sheffield United are streets ahead of the rest of the Championship but will be cannon fodder in the Premiership without huge investments I still think we’re a bit lucky to be top 6 and I still partly put it down to the relative failure of more fancied clubs for the playoffs like West Brom, Norwich, Watford, Middlesbrough etc to really stamp their authority on this division Either way it’s been a far better season than I expected despite some big beatings along the way
Last night you lost to a very good side who had no pressure on them, on Saturday both teams will have their eye other results, personal point of view why would anone want to go up, Leeds possibly struggle next season as will Burnley, do you want matches like that every week?
We really should not be a playoff spot-the league don't lie but the last two games we look lost-powderpuff-out of ideas. Premiership is not for us under this current team it would be a mauling week in week out-as said city would need to spend 100 million plus just to compete.
Not mine but a great post by a fellow city fan- Just put the below in the Championship group and thought I'd put it here too. Everyone going on about the defending tonight needs to bear in mind they were defending for pretty much the whole 90 minutes against a quality side showing massive intent. I actually thought the defense and O'Leary did quite well on the whole. The problem was we couldn't keep hold of the ball up the pitch and it just kept coming back at them. Anyway... Absolutely battered tonight by a far better team, no complaints at all. Leeds and Burnley are way above everyone else in this league, but then I guess that's what £millions in parachute payments gets you when it's well spent. Not bitter, that's just how it is. How can a club like ours compete with that? It's not just the transfers, it's more the wages that they can afford to pay to keep their top players. Leeds looked Premier ready tonight and good luck to them, I think both them and Burnley will do a lot better than the 3 that went up last season. Although that's not saying much please log in to view this image For us, nothing has really changed. Beat Preston on Saturday and we get Sunderland in the playoffs. I think even a draw may be good enough although that might mean Sheff Utd instead. Doesn't really matter! Sheff Utd will be rightly favourites in the playoffs but they're nowhere near the level of the top 2. After that you've got a bunch of decent Championship sides who can be very good on their day. That's all well and good at this level but it's a MILE away from being competitive in the Premier League. Whoever goes up in the playoffs will be right back here in August next year, you can pretty much set that in stone. A season of misery with the reward being those parachute payments. Fun? This league is great. Proper fans and a lot of big clubs. I'll cheer my team until the end but if that end means being here again next season I won't be shedding too many tears. Up the City!
agree would be horrible sat watching us become the whipping boys in the prem week in week out-i just like the fact we have had a decent season and something to play for on the last game-instead of mid table finishes.
If we go down the only thing that is possibly good is that that you can go to some different grounds and the probability of not paying £30 plus at League 1 grounds
built or building something better but now???? last two games its been demolished. went out with its ok to lose we have got Preston last game 4 zip could have been six and seven. weak mentality played like weaklings. leeds wanted everything more if they wanted citys coach, clothes and wives as well weakling city would have given up without a fuss. cuckolds!! going in to last game bang out of shape!!!
worrying i say the form has gone as does seem the confidence that showing last night you could see they did not want to be on that pitch.
Well for me it never happened. In Spain with yesterday no electricity, mobile, internet, TV or radio. I woke this morning to restored power and some nonsense about a thumping by Leeds. Couldn't watch or follow it so it never happened. Still only have to beat PNE on Saturday to be in the play-offs, the same as before my power went off. COYR
My hopes was very high, my expections were very low, perfectly normal for a Bristol City fan... then I cheer up as I could have been a 'Gashead'
Whilst I do agree with this - Max has too many errors in him, but having said that I feel Max deserves kudos for his performance last night. He was defending the Alamo - that triple save he did was absolutely incredible. Max was the only player of ours to come out of Elland Road last night having put in a shift.
Simplistic and unfair. Our lot gave everything, it was literally men against under 15s. We don't hold a candle to Leeds expensively gathered talent. It's the unfairness of parachute payments that was on show last night in an incredible atmosphere.
In that case I'll rephrase it to we need a new goalkeeper and a striker and better defenders and a better midfield
