It is about the quality though. If we had 2 different CBs who were as good as Simpson and Raylor as opposed to Colo and Saylor they could be as organised as they like but they would be much worse. We'll miss their quality at the back, doesnt mean we cant win the game though.

I see us losing tommorow. I think the power of Holt and Morrison will be too strong for us. Saying that I still think they lack a cutting edge but like us they have a great team spirit and never say die attitude.

I'm not worried so much about the defence as I am us giving away fecking penalties! In all competitions this season, we've given away 6, and it should really be 8! 6 in 17 games is frankly appalling, considering we only gave 7 in 42 games last season!

  5. Yeah I know It's largely to do with quality, but what I'm trying to say is that it's not as bad as It looks on paper.

I could see us definitely conceding more goals without Colo and Saylor, but I don't think it will be Norwich scoring left, right and center against us. I still think our makeshift defense, with the right coaching and preparation, can do a decent job.

  6. The pen at Blackburn wasn't a pen, and I fail to see how it should be 8? 5 is the right amount of pens we should have had against us so far IMO, we should have given away a pen against Wolves, but that evened out after we conceding a ****e penalty vs Blackburn, where Krul got the ball and the ref was ****e. And also, the pen at Stoke, Crouch fell down like a puff, it was a very, very soft pen, that most refs wouldn't have given IMO. Mike Dean is a nob head. The first pen at City was unlucky, and the 2nd pen vs City was when our CB was off the pitch.

We've had good luck, but even more bad luck with pens this year.

Really? Raylor had his arms out wide open, no luck about it just poor defending.

  8. If the ball hadn't have struck his arm it would have gone in anyway mate. It looked bad in slow motion, but in real time his arms where only out for a couple of seconds, and it would be really harsh to criticizing Raylor for it.

Raylor was spreading himself and when you do that sometimes your arms just naturally go out.

Regardless of where his arms where, it was still bad luck.

I was also thinking about the one against Everton when Gosling moved his arm to the ball, luckily nobody saw that. Yeah a couple have gone against us, but for the most part it has been rash challenges which have resulted in a fair penalty. So even if only 4 of them were fair, that's still an awful lot of penalties for us to be conceding.

Let's look at it this way:

    Goalkeeper:

    Newcastle or Norwich = Newcastle

    Defence:

    Newcastle or Norwich = Even

    Midfield:

    Newcastle or Norwich = Newcastle

    Attack:

    Newcastle or Norwich = Newcastle

    Would anyone disagree?

We can win this, or draw at least. We just need to come out all guns blazing like we usually do and avoid underestimating them. That's what costs us points, because we do have the skill in the team to at least match them in ability.

  11. Meh, it's not as bad as it sounds, but lets get back to the original discussing instead of debating pens.

I wasn't really looking for a debate about penalties, I was merely stating that we give away far too many of them, which we do <ok>.

I bet we keep a clean sheet, and you can quote me on that.

I don't know why people are ****ing over Morison and Holt so much seriously. They're just a fairly average striking duo which most teams have.

We've been pitted against some of the best attacking forces in the EPL over the last few months, and whilst I won't underestimate Norwich, it feels like we should be getting a bit of a rest in this game. Bloody sick of having to deal with the Rooney, Silva, Balotelli, Mata, Sturridge, Aguero and all the rest we've been pitted against lately.

  15. Well if you think about, before the last 3 games, we only conceded 1 blatant pen and 1 should have been given that wasn't against Wolves. So before the last 3 games, only 2 pens should have been given against us.

We've conceded 3 in the last 3 games. 1 of which was because our center back was off the field and we had Hatem in a false position, and one pen that was a result of a hand ball, but the hand stopped a goal being scored anyway.

It's not as bad as the pen count looks mate, if you think about it.

All the other pens I've not classed at as blatant, we're really pens. The one vs Stoke, very soft, the one vs Blackburn in the cup, not a pen.

  19. At least it doesn't sounds like they're worrying about the game and are all in high spirits.

I was thinking badly about our injuries until I got the feeling.

Were going to win this game.
