Your support was absolute class yesterday, a credit to your club. One of the best away supporters I’ve seen at SJP, right up there with Plymouth. (That’s not a pisstake btw, they’re excellent as well). Pleasure to speak to some of your fans, seemed to enjoy the city and the crack with our fans. Best wishes for next season. Hope you come back up.
It was one of the highlights of the day for many Town fans. The real welcome and friendly greetings they got at the game, post match, in the pubs and trains. And in spite of everyone knew relegation beckoned. A proper football club!
Can’t commend your lads enough. Fantastic support. Resigned to relegation, seemed to spur them on. Hope o see you back in a couple of years.
Do you think anyone will be in for Davis? For me he’s been one of the poorest performers, caught out time and again, repeating the same mistakes and this season offering little in attacking areas either. Not Premier League for me.
The players are 3-0 down, relegated against one of the better sides in the country with only injury time on the clock and swarming on the touchline to try to win the ball back. That determination gives me plenty of hope that we’ll keep on in the right direction and be back before long.
Questionable. Not a great defender plus we haven't been in our attacking flow too many times this season to get the best out of him from that perspective. At the start of the season he was still creating a really high level of chances especially for a defender but I observed the balls he played previous seasons due to us having a number of new players they just weren't picking up the positions to get on the end of them. I think a lot of our players have huge weaknesses and Davis is one of them, what you need to do is negate those where possible and bring out his best attributes. That has been a big failure for us this season, finding those balances partly due to the sheer number of changes to the squad we've made. Remember last time we brought so many players in, it took a good season and a half before it started to come good.
Last 2 seasons, Davis has had Luongo helping covering our left side. Not had that this season and although defensively, he hasn’t been great, the lack of cover for him has been evident
Completely agree Royston, for however much of an upgrade Cajuste is on Luongo as an individual player he hasn't done the job Luongo has done which was ultimately to bring the best out of both Davis and Morsy. Our promotion winning side was just so well balanced players knew where each other were going to be and their roles, brought the best out of each other. Our best players this season have clearly been Delap and Cajuste who are clearly better players individually than those who they've replaced unfortunately they haven't brought the best out of those around them.
Agree Hampy, he is not a robust strong defender, and was hardly allowed any of his customary attacking forays and sublime crosses that we enjoyed in the championship.
With the focus on Davis, I’ve found his set pieces really disappointing this season. Possibly more an indictment of the set piece coaching, but we’ve got to be better and more inventive against Premier League opposition. So many times his deliveries fail to beat the first man. Although confirmation of relegation is sad, I’m almost glad it’s happened this early rather than drawing it out for a week or two more. Removes the pressure and allows McKenna to focus on starting players who we hope to be with us next season.
