We wanted Rohl in December in the PL. We've since hired Rohl's ex-colleague. We still want Rohl and we're now a division lower than when he was already our top target. So he is still on the shortlist. And he's made it fairly clear he is leaving the Owls

We will go for Rohl and it will hinge on if he turns us down because something better has come along. Other names in the press are going to just be other shortlist names and options we will potentially revisit (now or in the future) in the event of no Rohl

I know Sport Republic set up a US subsidiary a year or so back, I wonder if there is anything in that and whether they are looking to add an MLS side to the group. Probably me putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5, but it is odd to interview a manager "for the future".

"Fancy coming for an interview in case we want to hire you in case our preferred candidate turns out to be ****?"

I'd worry about any manager we're tracking for a while with an eye to the future - look at Juric and Jones <laugh>

I think at this stage if our next manager isn't either Rohl or Still I'll be very underwhelmed.

Agree. They’re my favourite 2 as well.

Rohl is clearly our primary target and has been for some time. We are clearly wary of the premier league compensation clause so I wonder how long we are going to leave it before making the official approach.

I think that nobody respect the official bit these days. Likely never have. Someone will be on the blower to him everyday if it’s likely to be happening. The official bit will be short and sweet at the end.

I kinda suspect it’s pretty much done tbh, and has been for a while.

Yeah i know what you mean, we will have spoken to him/his agent back in Jan. But in terms of when we start properly negotiating or if we want to intervie, will we have to wait until fixtures are announced or what?

Isn't there a date the 1st or 2nd week of June where it becomes official at some kind of AGM, and registrations etc are swapped?

Personally, I'm of the opinion that if he's who we want, just get it ****ing done, and stop piss arsing around.

Yeah the scary bit is that we’ve been here so many times it seems with players and it has fallen over at the last minute. The stupid bit is I was quite uncertain about Rohl until the red bull hijack came up and then I started to feel like we were missing out on something.

Yep. And if you're Spors and are going to hire your ex-colleague/friend (delete or leave as applicable) then you would still be expected to show you did some due diligence and met with other coaches and spoke with other agents (etc etc...) before finalising that the guy you already know is best for the job

I would like Rohl to come in now and make an assessment of the playing staff in the remaining competitive matches. It will allow him to prepare for the next campaign.

Things change though. It may have been agreed previously but if Leipzig came in with a big offer then it could all change.

Did he have about 80% possession? If so, he is our man, the result is secondary.
