OK, not absolutely anyone, but they're definitely in a mini league of terrible owners. Not quite Sheffield Wednesday and the Reading bloke but wait to see what they're like if we don't get promoted
We've gone from playing Inter Milan to Wrexham and there's still people who don't hold SR accountable at all. It's completely baffling. But at least we've got a pub no one uses now
Going round in circles a bit here. Yes, there was decline, but we were surviving. Then SR came in, spent **** loads of money and somehow, just somehow, made us 100x worse. Got us relegated twice. 2/2 relegations. Its genuinely impressive how **** they've made us with all the money spent. Yes, Spors may change that, but we'll see. im dubious. At the moment, based on their record, SR are a stain on this clubs great history.
Agreed, but absent any logic whatsoever, they smashed their foot down on the accelerator and have totally ****ed this club for years, by buying a load of ****e from Man City desperate to make a buck. If they'd put more than half a second thought into stabilising the club instead of trying to make ££££ we'd still be an established PL team, knowing that it's now pretty much a closed shop. We could have watched the 3 promoted teams go down every year knowing we were fairly safe. By being total incompetent twats just as ****ing PSR was coming in they have ensured we'll never be able to compete in the PL again. We've lurched from manager to manager, each one worse than the ****ing last. They recruited Nathan ****ing Jones thinking it was a good idea. They promote inexperienced managers from clubs much smaller than our own and the fans politely clap each mad decision, then 6 months later we wonder why we're uncompetitive dross out on the pitch. But rather than learning from that we're playing exactly the same game next season. Their list of player transfers has generally produced some of the most talentless and ****ing lazy players I've ever seen in a Saints shirt. Just when you think they've reached rock bottom in signing someone like Mara, they totally out do themselves and spunk THIRTY TWO MILLION POUNDS on Ross Stewart, Cameron Archer and BBD. Who've achieved an unbelievable 2 PL goals between them. 16 Million Pounds a goal. Anyone who thinks these chancers are good for the club are massively deluded. The Dell like mentality of a certain generation of fans just can't seem to be shaken off, can it?
Given the state of the roads in the UK it probably isn't I reckon the foods probably better in Milan as well.
& Man City were playing Luton in the Prem last season.. are their owners to blame for Luton’s success coming up from National League too? Such a flawed argument - we have only dropped down 1 division (albeit twice), while Wrexham have been promoted 3, with extremely rich, high profile and ambitious owners. You’ve got to remember this isn’t an anomaly, Luton were in the top division above us last season & once upon a time Bournemouth were in non league too remember and look at them now! I’m not defending SR’s downfalls, they have been terrible this season & the season they started, but also in fairness to them, if it was not for a couple of our recruitment team taking way higher profile positions at much larger clubs than ours (Wilcox to United / Shields to Chelsea) then I think we’d have definitely done a whole lot better this season. That said, SR should have employed replacements sooner, but they backed Martin (stupidly) and Dragan recognises these failings, has sacked the appropriate people and now made replacements in Johannes Spors (and no doubt others will come in too). This has been too late but I don’t think they will be messing around this summer.
Not entirely but wow, they’ve definitely made their mark. Pub, fan zones, newly erected patron boards, 10/10. Director & managerial appointments, player recruitment …. 3/10 I can’t even give them credit for the promotion due to the abysmal FU this season.
"Great history"? Have I missed something? One cup win 50 years ago. Less than half a dozen top six finishes in our entire history (once in the last 40 years). League One not so long ago. We're hardly a heavyweight are we?
Not in the grand scheme of things. To me, yes. It's all relative; most fans in the country will be proud of their club and their history. Its just part of who we are.
Didn’t we play Inter Milan about 5 years before SR arrived? If we dropped down to the National League then I might hold SR accountable. We might actually win something if we did that though so maybe I’d see it as a good move. We clearly can’t win anything in the PL, Championship or League 1 so maybe National League is the sweet spot
