I actually don’t mind if the owners are mad enough to sack Farke. As long as they appoint him at Rangers and he does really well. I think Kev could actually self combust and that would be some fire
For once we need to keep stability with the spine of the team and manager. Get some gems in and build on what we have instead of desecrating it. Talk about self destruction going down line and sacking Farke.
You only get rid of your manager if you can get a better one, outside of a crisis. Can we? I agree he’s not filled me with total confidence (he persisted with Meslier for far too long, for example) .
Meslier will be gone soon i can't see the stats driven 49ers red bull putting up with him any longer. He was cheap by todays standards so bound to make a profit.
I guess so but my point was more why did Farke persist with him for so long when Darlow is at least a competent alternative?
Agree. It's the one big black mark on Farkes CV here. He has explained that he has never changed a keeper mid season before because he believes its hugely beneficial to have stability. That one didn't wash after Hull.
… they all have rules 2020. Right or wrong. The meslier thing is a weird one, but I’ll say this. Keepers train as a unit and managers often don’t take much interest. Even ‘mr attention to detail’ Bielsa, told us he was listening to coaches with regards to keepers abilities. It was like he had no interest/understanding in goalkeeping. All he cared about was how they distributed the ball and he involved them heavily in his build up set plays that were fundamental to Bielsaball. We hear Farke say as an ex striker he knows what makes a good striker. How many managers are ex keepers? This is not an excuse. To me, stevie wonder could see meslier needed replacing 3 years ago. I suspect (just my hunch) that the coaches are telling them that meslier is a better keeper than Darlow. He probably looks it in training. The coaches will have been saying mistakes happen, darlow’s no better., which is probably true. But top class sport is dealing with pressure and Meslier hadn’t been able to. It’s the manager’s job to recognise that. Bielsa, Marsch, Gracia, Farke all seemed unable to recognise that. Allardyce did. Management by hope.
I think you’re right. But as a manager he should have seen Meslier needed to be taken out of the limelight and a ‘steady’ keeper who might be less well rated technically was all we needed to get us over the line.
I completely agree. I was giving an explanation for how it can happen, not an excuse. It is a judgement question mark. on the flip side. He is manager not coach and had final say and heavy influence in our incomings and outgoings. We say it’s the best squad in the championship and we beat him up with it… any clown could get this lot up. Well, he took a relegated side with those contractual messes and built a team without spending huge sums - we sold our 3 most valuable players last year and came back better. He doesn’t get enough credit in general in my view.
Exciting finish to the National League South as we enter the final minutes. Torquay need to score 2 goals to get promoted providing Truro don't score any more Make that 3 goals as Truro just scored a fifth in the 83rd minute, although if Torquay do score twice before the end of the final whistle, they may have to have a play off, as both Truro and Torquay will have identical goals scored and against as well as points
