Of course I didn't see it at the time but fortunately did before it was too late, just how much I owed my mam for working to pay for the school trips. Times were hard but she always found the money to pay for trips away. Another source of adventure was the boys brigade, trips in the 1970s to Wales, Scotland and the lake District were the equivalent to space travel these days. Having to go to church on a Sunday was a small price to pay for the up sides, may have even got me a few credits with the big fella upstairs.
We used to bike ride to Hornsea and Bridlington as kids also did bike rides to Bransburton to do fishing for a day they were brilliant days as a kid.
follow a company on facebook, holidays by design in Brigg- they have some fantasic deals on for abroad holidays, all inclusive. trouble is they are always advertised as half term holidays, or easter holidays but they go 2 or 3 days either side. not so bothered about pulling kids out of school, but my mrs works in a school too which makes it awkward.
What a ****ing day yesterday was, from 12.30 couldn’t get through to my daughter as all power went down in Spain. We didn’t know if we were still flying out right up until 3am this morning. The current Mrs red was having ****ing kittens, absolutely no good in a drama that one lol. My son in law just messaged and said he loves it here in competa, the whole of Spain was running around panicking and here in competa they just sat in the bars lol. Absolutely nay panic at all… gotta love those people, my kind of souls. 23+ degrees ffor the next 10 days and a bloody big pool to lay in what more could I ask for, a cool beer maybe ??? Well the elecy is back on so they will be cool, my one wish when I return is city still in the championship……
Enjoy Red and don't forget the candles to keep Mrs Red quiet. I do mean to light by the way, wasn't implying you're inadequate.
Oddly enough I have just received an email from Northern power grid though it is dated yesterday, they have launched a new Web site for their priority customers in case of power outages. please log in to view this image Electrifying New Website Live to Support You At Northern Powergrid, our mission is to deliver a 10/10 service and as a Priority Service customer, we're always here for you, which is why we've launched a brand new website this week, to help you get the information you need in a flash, whether you're at home or on the go. It's now quicker and easier for you to get live information when you or a loved one has a power cut. You can easily report if your power goes off, receive regular updates, track progress on what we're doing to get your lights back on through our power cut map, and sign up for any extra support you may need.
I mean you normally can for local powers cuts as your phone will be charges early on and usually there’s some phone masts still working. BUT…I’ve been noticing some national people in emergency planning putting out lots of messaging about what you should have ready before, and do in widespread power cuts which is a very different thing. Maybe just in the back of Spain, but it does seem we have a creaking electricity infrastructure (check out Lucy Easthope)
Yeah, the reason I asked was because of power to the masts, really. Suppose we could establish a very long Bluetooth chain
A lot of them have batteries which provide a few days power, some are solar-powered and in important urban areas, the main transmitters have a small hut next to them that has a diesel generator.. well, they do where I live, but I assume it's the same in the UK. But whether anyone will be able to read your reports of power outage, is another question!
Did you mean Brac Island, Croatia? If so, I can recommend it. All those islands, Vis, Hvar, Korcula, Rab, etc are stunning.
I've been to Brac in Croatia too, as Kempton said it is very lovely. Not that big, so 3 or 4 days would probably be enough for me.
