Good Morning. It's Thursday 24th April, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Quelle surprise - 49ers have reservations over Farke The Elland Road hierarchy harbour 'significant reservations' over Daniel Farke's suitability in the top flight, according the Daily Mail – a publication that is seen as being the mouth piece for 49ers Enterprises. In truth, it comes as no surprise, even a Millwall fan could have told us that; but the timing still leaves a lot to be desired! The article is seen by many as a way of telling Daniel Farke that his tenure at Elland Road will be shortly coming to an end! The speculation comes at a highly sensitive time, just days after Farke delivered the 49ers' primary objective: getting the club back into the Premier League. While no final decision has reportedly been made, the club have refused to comment on the matter, fueling rumours that he may even return to Norwich City, the club where he built his reputation. Farke is to Norwich what Bielsa is to Leeds. The hierarchy at Carrow Road have stalled in appointing Russell Martin, possibly waiting to see whether Farke becomes available? Meanwhile, Bookies have already made a shortlist of who will be the next Manager at Elland Road:- Kjetil Knutsen 2/1 Edin Terzić 4/1 Sean Dyche 4/1 Liam Rosenior 10/1 Will Still 12/1 Marcelo Bielsa 16/1 please log in to view this image Ambitious Elland Road expansion gets Council green light Plans to significantly increase Elland Road's capacity have moved forward following key approvals from Leeds City Council. The proposals aim to boost the stadium's seating to 56,500, a move that aligns with the club's ambitions and recent return to the top flight. At a meeting of Leeds City Council's executive board yesterday, two crucial recommendations were approved, clearing the path for potential expansion. Firstly, the council agreed to negotiate the sale of council-owned land located behind the stadium's Don Revie and John Charles stands directly to the club. This land is essential for the planned expansion. The club would theoretically acquire this land at a price determined by an independent valuation reflecting market rates. Secondly, the council also agreed to negotiate and enter into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Lowy Family Group (LFG), United's development partner. This non-binding agreement signifies a collaborative approach between the council and LFG to work together on a broader regeneration strategy for council-owned land surrounding Elland Road. This regeneration effort is set to encompass significant parcels of land, including the park and ride adjacent to Fullerton Park, Lowfields Road, and the car parks situated on either side of Wesley Street. These approvals are vital steps in turning the expansion vision into reality. Council documents indicate that the detailed legal agreements for the sale of land are expected to be completed before any work potentially begins on council land in the 2025 calendar year. The detailed legal agreement for the MoU with LFG is planned for completion later in spring 2025. Councillor James Lewis, leader of Leeds City Council, highlighted the scale of the opportunity, stating:- "The regeneration of the Elland Road area represents one of the city’s most exciting development opportunities for a generation, which would revitalise a huge area of Leeds and potentially bring hundreds of millions of pounds into our local economy. "Leeds United are a Premier League side in a Premier League city and today is a key moment in moving towards a better, brighter future for the club, the fans and sport in Leeds." please log in to view this image Let's get this party started Plans are in motion for a promotion parade in Leeds. One step forward and two steps back. Only Leeds could consider sacking a record breaking manager. And Dyche fourth favourite, give me a break
Morning all It would take big balls to get rid of Farke and the backlash should the new guy fail would be off the scale, worse than sacking Bielsa. I don't want Dyche or Jose who have been linked, I'd prefer to take a chance with Farke, what a tough call. I'd take Klopp if he was available for the challenge On a personal level I don't believe Farke is the right man for the PL but now it's approaching a time where he might be replaced, I am having reservations If the rumours are true, I'm sure this has a lot to do with the 49ers not being happy about the Keeper situation, they wanted Meslier replaced at the start of the campaign Kjetil Knutsen - Looks an almighty gamble, you'd seriously question why. Edin Terzić - Could be a good shout, experience in the UK Great news on the council green light, maybe Matt is going to have a lot of material for his breakfast debate during the close season after all.
Morning all, I can see why the idea of replacing Farke isn't going down well with some. But I think it's about head over heart. The heart says he is a legend for what he has done and deserves the chance next season. But the head, for me, should be the deciding factor. And that's what we expect from the owners, head over heart. We've all seen Farkes limitations these last two seasons. Anyone with half a football brain can figure him out tactically. Any half decent prem manager/squad will tear him a new one. You also have to look at his Premier league record as a manager, it isn't good. Ok he has never been backed but when the owners are deciding to invest a lot of money in the squad are they gonna risk it on an unproven top league manager who will probably end up being sacked in November anyway? It is a gamble either way and could blow up in the owners faces but if I was in charge I would be wishing him well and looking elsewhere.
Leicester not scored at home since December If that happens to us we might need to look at reducing the capacity
Who do you want to replace him and is it the fact he's German or his lack of coaching skills by wining promotion that's the problem
Also what calibre of keeper did the 49ers offer him. It was a freebie as he already said they couldn't spend anything in January.
Darlow, was purely for 2nd spot. The 49ers did not sell meslier so made him first choice. Farke and everyone else would have signed a better keeper.
Who are the proven premier league managers on the list of replacements other than Dyche (not buying the Jose link).
It's all malicious rumor mongering - no way are Leeds going to sack Farke. But if they do and sign Sean Dyche to replace him, Leeds fans need to storm Elland Road and tar & feather the board members.
Some big decisions to be made. all I care for is the future of the club. I'd back the club either way I see pluses for him and negatives. He seems a really good man manager but tactically seems lacking its one style, one way. Yes he has got us up but so he should of with what he's had at his disposal and 100% would of been sacked if he didn't. some even say this league should of been tied up a while ago me included. He's also seemed very vocal in what he wants and that may not heed well with the hierarchy now. didn't he go through the kitchen sink before joining us. end of the day it is, what it is. It's shyte for Farke himself if it did happen. you could say unfair but life isn't fair is it. All I care about is Leeds United right or wrong. fair or unfair. we don't have the decision to make and thank god for that. if we fail miserably with a new manager the board will get the flack for why did we change the coach. if we fail miserably with Farke the board will get the flack for not sacking him. its all a gut feeling you either do it or you don't there's no middle ground.
