Only drawn 4 in 33. More likely to lose them than draw.

It’s Levy trying to correct his mistakes. He knows he appointed the wrong people

He always appoints the wrong people. It's his most recognised management characteristic.

Occasionally, they quit or turn him down - Santini and va Gaal - otherwise his record would have been even more **** than it already is.

The one person who needs replacing, far more than any other, is HIM.

Yep. Closer to 2 years ago now - towards the end of the 22/23 season.

“This has been an immensely difficult season,” Levy wrote.

“We made footballing decisions over recent seasons based on ambition and a desire to bring success to our club, and they have not delivered what we had hoped.

“Your frustration has been understandable, and all of us at the club have shared it.”

We have undertaken a thorough and rigorous review of our footballing operations,” the Tottenham chief continued.

“Scott Munn joins us in the summer as our new chief football officer, and we look forward to sharing further news with you post-season.”

    https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/2023/may/chairman-s-message/

So we are now reviewing the review. <doh>

    Shambolic.

People like Levy only thrive because people have very poor memories and can be quite gullible. Same reason politicians rise to positions of power on the crest of a wave of quiet failure.

I swear that if he appointed staff and chose signings based on rolling dice, he'd be no less 'successful'...and probably more so.

Running a big organisation is very tricky and very few people make a success of it. Recruitment is the hardest part and you get more wrong hires than right ones. It's essentially for the same reason that most transfers don't work out. The person you are hiring is already working somewhere and they have a much better idea of how good he or she is than you do. But you have to give them a pay rise or a bigger job to entice them away.

Levy is no worse at this than most people who would replace him.

It will be interesting to see how the new CEO fits in though...Levy has essentially been doing two jobs up until now so should be taking a big pay cut now there is a proper CEO.

Most Chairman and CEOs rely on headhunters in recruiting new senior staff. I doubt Levy is any different.

    Hmmmm.

I doubt it. He's obsessively hands on. He appointed Venkatesham because he knew him. Likewise Paratici, whose appointment he completely 'overlooked ' by starting the car-crash that ended up with us appointing Nuno, by ****ing off all the best candidates on his own (or with that other bald bloke who did a very poor impersonation of being a DoF for a while).

He is the personification of "I know best."

Levy's also a ****er for appointing the unemployed. He hates paying for staff, almost as much as he hates paying agents and market rate on wages.

Ange - not free, but comparatively cheap.
    Nuno - Free
    Conte - Free
    Mourinho - Free
Poch - Made him pay his own get out clause.
    AVB - Free
'Arry - probably offset it against transfer £.
    Santini - Free...

    Now, Venkatesham (free), Paratici (free).

If he paid 1 red cent for Scott Munn, he's lost his ****ing mind. The bloke was little more use than a graduate trainee...with a forged degree certificate.

There is little chance that we can get a better manager by paying a buyout clause. There are at least 15 clubs they would go to in preference to us if they were any good and 9 of those could pay a bigger fee.
I am not sure we've ever taken a manager directly from another big club at any point in the past.
Anyway, if he is as bad as you say he is at choosing managers then thank God he is not wasting money on getting them.

Maybe part of his problem is because he's actively choosing freebies. Of those few who have succeeded, 'Arry and Poch were both working in the PL at the time they were recruited. They knew the league and the players. Both were then (and previously) at clubs where they had to piece together a unit, without the luxury of major funding. BMJ had a similar background. They fitted us like a glove.

When we appointed Poch, I was certain that he would succeed. He had the right credentials. Conte and Mourinho were all wrong for us. They were always going to fail and you and I knew it.

Nuno was burned out. He wasn't actively looking for work and had talked about some time out, to recharge the batteries. His football was also dreadful to watch. A failure from the moment he was signed to a short term, release clause contract. Even Levy knew it was doomed.

Ramos was a disaster. Expensive and had no idea of how to navigate the PL, English players or tomato sauce.

AVB and Ange were mental. They didn't have the qualifications to do the job and have hugely inflated egos.

Eddie Howe would have been a perfect appointment. Glasner has the right look and feel, too...it's why, slowly, I'm coming round to reappointing Poch. They should fit and right now, we need that.

Add to that the one time we paid a whacking great buyout clause we wound up with Juande Ramos

It’s definitely the safe option and would get many fans back onside.

Would he leave the USA job so soon though?

I can’t see him jumping ship 12 months before a home World Cup.

Although they won’t win it and I think there’s also a lot of negativity around their team at the moment but mainly aimed at the players from what I see rather than him.

    Also the country they represent

Hoping they somehow share a group with France and China, just to see how loudly their anthem gets booed in their own backyard
