Gossip column's gone batshit today, the team 14th in the league is apparently going on quite the spending spree and all the big names want to go there: Manchester United have made Napoli's 26-year-old Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray, their top striking transfer target this summer. (Mirror) Manchester United are hoping to pay Matheus Cunha's £62.5m release clause in instalments, with Wolves open to splitting the payments for the 25-year-old Brazil forward. (Telegraph) Manchester United also plan to trigger the £30m release clause in the contract of Ipswich's 22-year-old English striker Liam Delap. (Mail) Manchester United are plotting moves for Newcastle's Bruno Guimaraes, 27, and Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton, 21, to bolster their midfield. (TeamTalk,)
Osimhen you can see happening as they’re one of the few clubs who can both pay him what he wants and would actually want him/need to take a risk on him. Cunha similarly is seen as a risk albeit a very good player. Exactly the type to go there and immediately turn to ****. Doesn’t feel very Amorim but who knows? Delap with such a low release clause everyone will be considering. Wharton yeah if they’ve got the sort of mad fee Palace will want. Too soon for him IMO but a very good player. Guimaraes nah.
With their current predicament wouldn't there be some FFP issues with paying all these amounts? Unless they're planning to swap Hojlund for Osimhen and Zirkzee for Cunha....which I can't see happening.
Nah sod that. All I've really been looking forward to for months football wise. I did think about it but I'd have to go up there anyway and really want to go so be pointless to.
My dad went to Newcastle towards the end of the season we went down and they bottled the title. Soon after we drew at home to United with Cantona scoring in the 156th minute in the days before little electronic boards. Got offered a fortune for his ticket apparently but he is prone to lying. Also looking at their results they didn’t bottle it as badly as I thought. After the 4-3 at Liverpool they won four of the next five. It’s a slow day at work.
The run up to and including the Liverpool game did most of the damage, but the killer was the 2-1 loss to Blackburn a few games later, 1 up with 5 mins to go and managed to lose the game. Graham Fenton's only notable career moment being stopping his boyhood club get the title.
I can see it being complete chaos up there if I'm honest. Might be the earliest I've ever got to the game even if I don't have to collect.
I'm sure I saw a stat yesterday that Cunha has the second highest stat in the prem for spending the game walking. Seems a match made in heaven for a manager who loves his forwards to press.
Hows the top 6 going to finish then? I'm going: 1. Liverpool 2. Arsenal 3. Citeh 4. Newcastle 5. Forrest 6. Villa
Probably that, which will be tough on Forest, but I think the City game on Sunday will push them out the top 4 and they'll stay there. Be ****ty if Forest finish any lower than 5th though.
