To be perfectly honest, I’d forgotten all about him.

He wasn’t first choice it was another player they wanted that I think went to the German league. Think he was something like third choice. I think he looks like someone who won a prize to become a full time footballer. He may come good, but won’t be with us. Would not surprise me if we won’t see him again

Weird isn’t it, I thought he was going to really good at first, he scored 2 goals pretty quickly, both of which were really well taken. It’s his general play that’s not up to championship levels.

Moussa Sylla, I think was our first choice, the one that went to Schalke and has scored 14 in 20 games so far.

I think Tinnion was so sure that he got him, then lost out and quickly went for Fally and say he’s a player for the future. Like you said started well, but you could quickly see he wasn’t all that and got so bad our own players seemed to stop passing to him. Manning tried him, failed then just before Christmas tried him again and must have thought let’s cut our losses and loan him out.

I would if I was them just carry on loaning him out to try and cover the wages, or take a hit on the fee and hopefully he wants to leave. If it’s us pushing to sell I think he is allowed a pay off in lost wages on his contract. Hence why clubs don’t do what JGF badgers on about four plus one years.

bit like the labour .gov comments "cite" all things as being in the same basket ..
    clarification ..
if you buy/ acquire a player for future so is young and needs moulding you apply a contract that befits. If you buy a player that is say over 23 years old has cost a few £mllion then you apply a contract [ which to a degree is flexible to both parties thats usually what contracts are about! ] but you go for a term that is realistic. you dont want a player that costs £10m plays well for 2 seasons then doesnt want to stay here because the agent makes money everytime they move/ etc so third year of contract is wind down time! so may not play that well or get game time! and go on free.

when you see players in prem costing £50m + ++ and go for free or greatly reduced price I wonder WHEN THE BIG CRASH WILL COME ... bit like the money markets / stocks etc.

Had I not tied up a few £GRAND in anticipation of APRIL 7th when TRUMP crashed the market [ up to 20% ] I could have had the cash to buy shares at a lower price and been a lot lot richer! PLAYERS WILL soon become so expensive that the money paid into clubs will be not enough to support the poorer ones .......... so these clubs suffer these mini crash's and end up leagues down the pyramid and into obscurity..........

there is now only about 6 or 7 teams that have been in the prem for more than 10 years pre 2024........

JGF - please help me out here with your maths head on…!!
    (I posted this on OTIB…)
    As I see it:

We won’t get anything at Leeds, but I think we’ll get at least a point v Preston, leaving us on 68 or 70

Coventry have Luton away followed by Boro at home. Luton are fighting for their lives (as we well know) and Boro want to crash the playoffs. No idea how to call this, but only them OR Boro could get more than 4 points. Not both.
Boro have Norwich at home followed by Coventry away. They should beat Norwich but Cov away will be a HUGE battle. Again, only them OR Cov could get more than 4.
Millwall have Swansea at home followed by Burnley away. They should beat the Jacks but Burnley away will be tough - a draw would be a good result because they will want a chance to be crowned champions (hoping we will do the unlikely and take points off Leeds). Let’s say 3 points.
Blackburn have Watford at home followed by Sheffield United away. They should beat Watford but Sheff U will be tough - probably 4 points.
Only 2 games left but loads of different scenarios.

If we lose both our games then Boro will still need at least 4 points AND Millwall and/or Blackburn will need 6 in order to unseat us.
I think that’s the only way we can miss out(?)

    I personally don’t care about Coventry - I don’t care if we finish 5th or 6th.

    My head hurts!!

Swansea are the inform team at the moment so I would expect them to get a point at least. (Below Millwall apart from on paper, they are all out of it)
Boro to beat Norwich and get a point at Cov who will lose to Luton.
It may come down to GD so need to worry about coming away from Leeds similar or better than we did Burnley.
I remember last time we went into play off on last day and Gordon Owens missed a pen against Swindon (then Mansfield in Frieght Rover final) to ruin our season.

R&W - I posted this before the Luton game.

    'Odds on ?
Worried we'll lose at Luton, they're a big side on a tight ground and then Leeds where we always lose.......finally PNE who rarely lose at AG.
And then Conway wins it at Coventry'.

    .....And then Boro miss out.
    Simples.

You were right about Luton. I think you’ll be right about Leeds. I think we’ve buried the PNE ghost now so current form should see us through - the old hoodoo has gone.
As for Cov or Boro - wouldn’t it be sweet to get the winner at Wembley vs Conways Boro?? <laugh>

Norwich might get the ‘dead cat bounce’ with their new manager?

Just read it, I’m in Fuerteventura at the moment so wasn’t up to date on that one.

Hoping they cashed in on Sergent and we sneaked the play offs to convince him. Probably too many San Miquel

Of course we should try and win both our last 2 games.
We are highly unlikely to get anything at Leeds but we MUST keep the score down. If we get spanked like Stoke did then that will hit our GD.
However, there is a part of me that says - if we get spanked then we don’t deserve to go up.
Leeds and Burnley will be amongst the ‘easiest’ fixtures we would get in the Prem, so if we are serious about getting there then we need to man up and grow some.
Another negative factor is that the lads aren’t stupid. They all know that very few of them would be retained if we did go up. They would be rewarded for their efforts by being booted out of BS3 back to the championship playing for another club. Many of them are simply not good enough for the top tier and they know it.

We'd have to rely on LM's ability to set up and organise.
I think that Knight is the only player we have who could 'cut it' in the Premiership.

I was going to say a week or so ago, that I'm not sure that we have ANY players who could make the gigantic step up to the Premiership.
