Good Morning. It's Monday 21st April, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Leeds United on Brink of Championship Glory: 99.4% Chance of Promotion Leeds United are on the cusp of a triumphant return to the Premier League, boasting a staggering 99.4% chance of promotion according to OPTA. Their impressive Good Friday victory propelled them even closer to securing the title, a testament to the hard work and Resistance of their players. Farke too has made an impact. In just 89 league games, Leeds have accumulated an impressive 181 points, surpassing their entire point total from last season with three games still to play. This remarkable achievement speaks volumes about the team's improved form and tactical cohesion under his leadership. The statistics paint a picture of a supremely well-balanced side. Leeds' attacking potency is unmatched in the Championship, with a phenomenal 83 goals – a full 20 more than their nearest rivals. This offensive prowess is perfectly complemented by a robust defense, boasting an impressive 23 clean sheets. The combination of attacking flair and defensive solidity is the hallmark of a truly exceptional team. A victory against Stoke City could seal the deal as early as today. However, the scenario hinges on Sheffield United dropping points in their away fixture against Burnley. This presents a significant challenge; Burnley, boasting an unblemished home record and a remarkably stingy defense (only 14 league goals conceded), will be a formidable opponent for Sheffield United. While Leeds have overwhelmingly tipped the scales in their favor, the final hurdle remains. The upcoming matches will undoubtedly be filled with nail-biting suspense as fans across the country eagerly await the confirmation of Leeds’ well-deserved return to the Premier League. The 99.4% probability offers immense encouragement, but until the final whistle, the dream of promotion remains tantalizingly close, but not yet fully realised. please log in to view this image As comprehensive as One - Nil's get Leeds reclaimed top spot in the Championship with a comprehensive 1-0 victory over Oxford United, matching earlier wins by promotion rivals Burnley and Sheffield United. A first-half goal from Manor Solomon proved to be the difference, edging them ahead of Burnley on goal difference with just three games remaining. Sheffield United sit five points behind in third. The Whites now face Stoke City at Elland Road on Easter Monday, and a win coupled with a Sheffield United loss to Burnley would secure their Premier League promotion. Regardless, five points from their remaining three matches guarantees their return to the top flight. Oxford United, meanwhile, slipped to 19th, five points clear of the relegation zone and still needing points to secure their Championship status. The pressure was on Leeds after Burnley’s win over Watford and Sheffield United's victory against Cardiff City earlier in the day. Successive wins over Boro and Preston North End had steadied their nerves after a wobble reminiscent of last season's late collapse. In their first league visit to Oxford since 1990, Leeds faced a stubborn home side. The Whites bossed the game for much of the proceedings, offering Gary Rowett's side only scraps to feed off. It was far from the attractive football that we have been used to, but at this stage of the season, all that matter is the points in the bag! After an early scare from Cameron Brannagan, Leeds began to assert their dominance. Jamie Cumming denied Brenden Aaronson, and a brilliant Ben Nelson clearance prevented a certain goal for Willy Gnonto. The breakthrough came in the 33rd minute. Joe Rodon's excellent pass found Jayden Bogle, who squared the ball for Solomon to steer home his ninth goal of the season. Bogle missed an opportunity to extend the lead early in the second half, and Ao Tanaka was unlucky to see his long-range strike hit the post late on. Leeds then had to withstand a barrage of long throws as Oxford searched for an equaliser. However, resolute defending, particularly from Rodon, ensured the clean sheet and the victory. Despite the loss, Oxford will look to bounce back in their tricky match against Cardiff on Monday. please log in to view this image
Morning. Is there still a twist? Or do we go out with a bang and get them magical 100pts taking the league in the process. Stoke are safe they can come here without parking a bus but they wont lol. Again its all about the 1st goal if we get it i see a comfortable afternoon prob 3 or 4 nowt. If they get it...it will be everyman and his dog behind the ball with time wasting fake injuries you all know the score
99.4% sounds pretty convincing. These models work out the likelihoods based on past performance of ourselves Burnley and Sheffield utd and the upcoming opponents. What they don’t do is factor in circumstance. Pressure is huge at this time of the season and freak results are more commonplace. If we lose to stoke and sheff Utd win at Burnley. It’s very much game on. it’s right we’re really big favourites but I think its less than the 200:1 shot they’re suggesting for it not to happen.
Morning all I read Stoke have three players out definitely injured and a further three reported as unlikely after limping off or during training last week. Away to us, home to Sheffield and away to Derby the last game of the season, to be mathematically safe, they do still need another win and over the next three games, there are a hell of a lot of the bottom half playing each other. We should win, we really don't want to start worrying about an inform Bristol City and a banana skin bottom of the table last game. A draw and with goal difference Sheffield need 7 from the last three and hope we lose the last two
Morning all, If we don't go up automatically from here then just fold the club. Let's all say it was fun while it lasted and get on with our lives. I'm sure I've probably missed this debate on here but as soon as we are promoted I hope to see a good luck in your future endeavours message to Farke from the club. He has done a great job no doubt but I hope the owners can see his limitations. I can't help thinking that any half decent Prem manager will figure him out and we will be getting pumped under him until he's inevitably sacked in November. Let him leave in the summer with his head high and reputation intact and find a top level coach before we start spending.
We'll win by three with two early goals. Promotion tonight. 83 goals scored to date and reading rubbish on social media from Leeds pretend fans questioning everything about Farke, from his style of football to goals conceded and can't wait to get rid in the summer. Honestly, you couldn't make it up. Busy at work today so time will fly by till 3pm
Absolutely, he is only human and we all make mistakes, even huge ones which might get us fired from any other job. Fortunately for him we have some pretty good outfield players which have kept us around the top three all season.
Bristol City £46m Coventry £87m Sunderland £141m Leeds £189.5 Sheff U £134m Burnley £195m Puts it all into context really, those figures are squad values, goal difference in it for the top 2 and easily the two most expensive squads Even the difference to Sheff U is the same as 1x £15m player and 2x £20m players. A huge advantage at this level
