I dont know how many more times I can bang the drum for this kid, having watched him for the past 3.5 years progress from the youths, to the reserve and fleetingly lately to the first team. He is pound for pound the best striker and finisher I have seen come through the ranks at SAFC in my entire lifetime. At 16 he was amazing and he has got better and better and better. This is 11 goals in 5 games including 3 hat tricks and one of them inside 5 mins. Last season he scored 11 goals in 11 games; the season before 12 goals in 9 games but 37 goals in 31 games including the youths. He has 22 goals at Christmas that year for both youth team and reserves. Now, I'm not daft enough to think that automatically he could transfer that reserve form the to EPL but hell's teeth, I think given our current state of a goals drought the lad deserves a chance, doesnt he? There are 5 games to go until the transfer window where I dont doubt at all a striker will be a high priority for the new manager but in those 5 games, I reckon Ryan Noble, 20 years old now not a snot nosed kid, Sunderland born and bred deserves a chance to grab his piece of glory. Who knows, if he knocks in 2 or 3 goals in those 5 games, a new local hero may have been born and the worst case scenario is he doesnt score but makes enough of a mischief that others form the team benefit and he will have 5 games at this level under his belt. Rather than go out on loan, I'd like to see him at least on our bench and given more than 3 minutes to have a go for us when he comes on. Ryan Noble, a local star in the making and trust me lads he is the real deal this lad. The real deal. Martin couldn't be anything other than impressed and I bet when he asks about him and is told he has scored 3 hat tricks in 3 games (including a derby and v Man Utd now) but has had less than 7 mins on the pitch at senior level under Bruce (when we cannot buy a goal from anywhere) he will be astonished.
I havn't seen as much of the lad as you have mate, but his recent goal-scoring exploits must surely mean he has earned his chance to start in a side that has struggled to find the net...
The big difference is this lad wants is MCB. You dont hear about him fighting everyone he meets, getting pissed out of his head, drinkl driving or flashing pictures of him holding a gun like some demented pretendy James Bond every other week. His only vice by all accounts is a bit of an addiction to the bandits in bookie shops of a day? Hang on a minute, Michael Chopras Boo.........? Lol
Yeah Ranger's problem is he's a moron It will be interesting to see if Noble steps up to the plate (if given a chance) Personally I think scoring records at reserve level and U18s don't really mean much, only one way to find out if they can cut it or not
I dont know about that mind. both Owen and Rooney had record breaking stats at youth level before it eventually got them a first team shout. Owen was 17 when he made it at Liverpool and Rooney was the youngest ever player to play for Everton at 16. It was their remarkable exploits at reserve and youth level that got them notice d and a first team berth. If Noble is given a chance (and I am not trying to say he is the new Michael Owen or Rooney) I think he will grab it likewise and I am not bull ****ting when I say he is the very best young striker to come through the ranks in my 36 years following the club. I rate him far higher than I have any other young player in that time and he is pound for pound without doubt, the best striker we have at the club currently. If he plays Sunday, get a few quid on him for first goal as he is the kind of lad who gets into great positions the whole game and that can't be taught. Its pure instinct and he's got it in bucket loads.
As mentioned, Ranger had a similar record, but when it came to stepping up from playing football with kids to playing football with experienced top-flight players, he just couldn't do it. But, as you've also said, when a kid has that sort of record in the reserves, he deserves a first team shot to see if he can step up. No doubt about that.
Rangers problem is he just seems to be a daft ****e, destined to have a bag of talent that he will never realise imo. I saw him in a reserve game 2 years ago at Hetton and he was amazing. I told a lad at work that I had just seen your lots next No.9. Since then he has been arrested more times than a 10 bob whore, been in more fights than David Haye and drunk more cheap grog than a coach full of England rugby players. He is never going to make it because he doesnt want it enough to plough his life into it. He has the talent and no aptitude. Noble on the other hand has all the attributes but he also has all of the attitude as well. He doesnt drink, get into fights or do anything other than play football. He is desperate to succeed and imo, he will do if nit with us then certainly in the next year he will be away to a club that does give him a chance. He's 20 now and he has to be breaking the first team door down soon, or he will miss the boat. I'd love to have a local hero at the SOL as well and especially a goal scoring one. I always envied your lot having Alan Shearer at No.9 for that reason, as well as the fact he was a bloody good footballer in his own right of course. That really hurt saying that. I'm gannin to bed. Lol
did a similar post last season. when you have the knack of being in the right place, it usualy doesn't matter what level you play. you score goals. he will score plenty in the prem hopefully sooner rather than later. bring it on. GO...al RYAN !!
I think this is spot on, for anyone to score a bucket load of goals at reserve level, (against some very experienced defenders I might add) you have to have that positional instinct.
Seen numerous threads on Noble on both Not606 and RTG, and i am absolutely amazed by how many people are spouting the same bollocks....."there is a massive difference between reserves and First Team, won't make the cut etc etc" I completely agree, there is a difference, but the lad deserves a chance. Let me ask this, does anyone actually think that given the same run in the same reserve team either Ji, Wickham, Bendtner or Sess would score 11 goals in 4 games???? I highly doubt it, this isn't just the sign of a quality striker, but it is an indication that the boy has a genuine ability to get himself in the right place at the right time.....dare I say that this is the same quality associated with a Mr D. Bent????
We'll see mate, wouldn't like to guess what his team will be....could be owt.. But he seems to rate Gardner.. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/spor...ll-has-hope-for-craig-gardner-72703-29915811/
At least now we have someone in charge that will see what the lad is capable of & give him the run he deserves
I thought the whole point of reserve teams/U18s teams was to build home grown players instead of buying them maybe I'm wrong? I think any player that is doing well in these teams needs to be given the chance in the full squad (not talking 4 minutes at the end of a game either). If we don't start to do this then what is the point of a reserve/U18 team and more to the point was the AOL just a waste of money to appease the FA gimps?
He is just a natural finisher - the "right place right time" man we've been missing this season. FFS 11 goals in 5 reserve games speaks volumes about the lad. Me and Cest have a mutual respect with Noble - I too have seen him play at all levels and obviously realise what a natural finisher he is. Some of his goals have been very good goals but some he has just been "there" when the ball drops - Bruce went so far backwards he almost met himself at the other side recently - Ji Dong Won gets a game but Ryan Noble doesn't?? Sorry but this lad is much more ready than Ji is at the moment.!! Really hope he gets his chance this weekend - if Bendtner isn't fit then we surely have no choice?
