Yes I agree Rodon had a good game only a couple of near blunders but credit where it's due, he was very good tonight.
Thats fat lady is clearing her throat and she be singing very shortly. The two central welsh pair were brilliant yesterday. Not going to slag anyone off as its all about 3 pts now. but, Piroe was shyte again lol.nearly there.
Stoke looking apparently in not bad form (11 points from last 6 games) but the only team they played in the top half in those 6 was Millwall - and they lost that one. So I’m expecting a very nervy win. then we can sit back and enjoy watching Sheffield lose at Burnley.
…… though if we win, best result for the other two would be a draw. Sheffield still can’t catch us and it gives us effectively a 3 point advantage on Burnley (due to GD) will be an interesting game if Sheffield have to win.
Results between the 3 top teams are interesting: Leeds 7 points from 4 Burnley 7 points from 3 Sheffield 0 points from 3 suggests to me Burnley (current squads) are best placed for the Prem, Sheffield not up to it. also suggests to me Sheffield have very little chance on Monday
Win our next two games and it’s job done, pretty amazing to think that with 91 points we still aren’t certain of promotion yet.
Not sure head2head is the best measure to draw conclusions for me 2020 on who is best placed for the prem. That comes down to whether you think Burnley can grind out 0-0’s and sneak the odd 1-0 in the prem…. or whether they’re so mediocre they’ll just get outclassed by better sides who can score against their bus. Also Re head2heads it’s too few games to draw conclusions. Burnley scored at elland road when Solomon fell over, it was about their only meaningful attack in two games against us. Sheffield united have spawned their way to top 3… they’re the least well equipped, by a distance. But they could still win a one off game at Burnley, who are playing better now but have also ridden their luck this season.
We didn't deserve to lose to Burnley at ER. We tried to win the game. They didn't but capitalised on a slip. We should have beaten Sunderland away but ..... Meslier happened. Deservedly beat Sheff Utd twice. On balance of play we should have played 6, won 4 and drawn 2. **** happens and we didn't, that's football for you. Burnley and Sheff Utd have more points than they 'should', they've both ridden their luck for large parts of the season. Chickens are coming home to roost for Sheffield but Burnley just keep getting the rub of the green like at Watford yesterday. I'm confident that we would finish above any teams that go up this season in the PL. Just have to figure out which PL club we can finish above. Cunha is leaving Wolves and he has been their shining light this season. Maybe they are primed for a relegation? Anyway, it's nice to think about these things now but there is a slight Leedsy feel creeping in about Stoke at home. It's the Wigan thing.
Sure, it’s simplistic (I thought you’d appreciate it ) I’m using the ‘best’ teams in the championship as a benchmark for the 3 of us, completely agree it MIGHT Be that what is required to be good in here is not what is required up there. I think I’m right about Sheffield having no chance on Monday though. We’ll see!
I’m not sure Burnley are just a ‘park the bus and sneak an undeserved win’ side, think they’ve succeeded too often this season for it to be luck. But agree with whoever said the better attacks they’ll face next season could undo them. we’ll all strengthen before then, anyway …. Erm, I hope…….
They've had a lot of plaudits for their defence and their run of clean sheets. That's fair, they were defensively excellent in the two games vs us. Esteve is a great centre half and the keeper Trafford is also an exceptional talent. However, after watching them multiple times this season I can assure you that their goal has led a very charmed life with multiple golden chances missed at key moments. I'm sure someone will post some stats to back this up bit purely from an eye test they've been fortunate to only lose 2 games.
It seems the difference this season to last is the big hitters , Summerville and Rutter went missing the last half dozen games, James and Solomon are performing at the top of their game.
