You cant just rule them all out like that. Ben Arfa takes up one of the striker roles so he counts, Shola's here until 2014 minimum as well. Best and Ba are more than adequate and will be around for a while too (hopefully).

Well obviously, I mean there's no possible way he's just genuinely injured.

Personally I like the look of Nicky Maynard from Bristol City, were looking at him a while back but then he got injured, only came back this season and has scored 7 in 19 this season, but he has pace and lots of quality.

I also like the look of Zaha from Palace although he's younger.

    So I would have:

    Yanga-Mbiwa
    Pieters
    Giroud (prefer him to Maiga)
    Maynard
    Zaha

How much do you expect us to get?
and if he goes to Chelsea, would you like McEachran?

I dont think we'll sell him. Especially as he may need surgery on his knee. He's worth £25 million to us and if Chelsea would let McEachran go I'd like him as part of any deal but I dont see that happening.

AVB really doesn't rate McEachran....they would def swap him.

ALTHOUGH Romeu has been excellent in anchor role recently so, with Essien to come back and McEachran coming through, I can't see them bringing in Tiote. I really don't think they will be interested, far more likely they are interested in Coloccini I think.

    Pieters
    Ridgewell/Migwhabababaddyboop
    Giroud
    Clyne
    Hoillet

just going off people we've been linked with, if this was our Jan dealings we wouldn't need to do much in the summer at all and I have no doubt we'd finish top 7.

    Hoillet - Blackburn
    Cabral - FC Basel
    A Young Jimmy Bullard
    Frenchy 1
    Frenchy 2

The good thing about the last two is their versatility. Hopefully they are some form of defenders, though.

I still count him as an AM though and it being pretty much 5 in midfield, 1 in attack, but i know what you mean.

Shola has his new contract yeah, but he's not going to play a major role all the way through that contract is he? He's already 4th choice at this stage. Having said that, the odd appearances he has made, he's looked good. Tottenham and Chelsea for example, im more than happy having him around the club and he could be very useful in the league cup and stuff when you're fielding a team made of up mostly inexperianced players.

Best and Ba i have no problems with, although Best i would say would be back up striker. He plays decent, works well with Ba and goes on runs of being in the right place at the right time but he's not someone you can count on to lead the line, hes not game changer.

Ben Arfa and Ba are fine. We just need higher quality options upfront.

Its like when im playing FM, i hate moving on people i like as a fan of the club, but you have to keep replacing and improving on what you have. We need at least one more striker to count on.

As for buying two now while we already have what we have... What happens if we wait until Lovenkrands/Shola have finally moved on and we've missed out on someone who could have cost next to nothing and has gone on to prove himself elsewhere? We COULD be in an added competition next season and injuries are already howing in this campaign. A European one takes a lot out of a team, and its not as if you can count on our current forwards to remain fit if theyre called upon.

Either way, competition is supposed to drive you on.

Id be happy with one forward and 2 defenders though.

    2. Shaqiri
    3. Shaqiri

    1. I'd like Zaha who I've mentioned a few times in the past few months. Looks a really exciting prospect for the future. In the early days he'd be a very interesting option to come on from the bench.

    2. Onuah (sp?) is a defender I'd like to come in. Comfortable at RB and CB, and strong. Frozen out at City but had a good loan spell last year. He's a realistic signing and wouldn't cost much, either on transfer fees or wages.

    3. Clint Dempsey - quality player, but we'd never get him. Great link between midfield and attack and guaranteed a good few goals each season. He'd fit in with our team ethos to as he never gives up and plays his heart out.

    4. Hoillet - RW / ST so versatile. We'd then have the option of him or Obertan down the right. Or he could play as a striker. Vastly improved this year and out of contract in summer. Pardew likes quick players, and he's damn quick.

    5. Cissokho (sp?) - he's French, we need a LB, he is a LB <ok>

Ideally I'd want a better defender than Onuah, but for the money we'll have and who's available I think he's our best option.
