I'm with you re TW. He got a bad rap IMO. He had in addition keystone cops defending to deal with and professional footballers who either weren't capable of adapting to a new style or who steadfastly didnt want to play to that style and showed it. How many opposing managers came out after games and say how difficult his style was to defend against. I know one thing, it was more exciting to watch than the crap we are serving up now. Would he have turned it around, we'll never know.
Scored his three goals playing down the centre...Selles plays him wide....I'm no coach and I've only got one good eye, but I can see he's wasted on the wing...Is Selles blind? I'm beginning to think he might be.
His man-management didn’t do him any favours with this group of players. They were used to the pally nature of Rosenior’s man-management. I thought our build-up play under Walter was brilliant to watch at times. It was our decision-making in the final third that was his downfall along with his personality rubbing the players the wrong way. Walter’s style of play had obvious risks and his record at previous clubs show that his teams conceded a fair few goals but still scored more than they conceded. Most of our results during the terrible run under Walter were by small margins. If our finishing was better, some of those draws become wins and and losses become draws. How many sitters did Slater have? How many times did a player make the wrong decision for a final ball? These problems are still here under Sellés, except the build-up looks worse and we sit back and let the opposition have more of the ball. I don’t see a lot of eagerness by the players to rectify the mistakes made during Walter’s reign. If they clashed with him, surely they should want to prove a point that they are better than what they were under him? Instead, I see a lot of pouting, sulking and them having a chip on their shoulder about our league position. I can’t remember a more unlikeable squad of City players in ages. Pandur’s just about the only one I have a soft spot for. Everyone else is forgettable.
If that genuinely was the case, I don’t think we’d be only losing games by the odd goal and still being in games even when we’re not playing well.
I'd love to see how that equates to number of touches, cos there have been multiple games where I'd be surprised if Pedro got into double figures
We managed to beat the wendies at Hillsborough despite playing absolutely ****e so we are definitely a great team
Some people are so desperate to somehow make out that walter was fantastic just so they can be proven right about rosie been sacked
This i absolutely agree with. I didn’t think he was particularly great in the first place but since the suspension he’s been awful. No idea how he continues to play 90 every week.
Walter’s build up play was exciting? Christ it didn’t take long for history to be re-written. It was essentially Rosey ball except we weren’t allowed to defend properly and the centre midfielders had to run away from the ball at all times.
Stop being a pleb, Brady. Walter had to go. Results have been better under Sellés. That being said, the style of play since the international break in March has been some of the worst in a while and worse than anything seen under both Walter and Rosenior.
I dont know whats happened since the break Luton was surely a one off. But its happened every game since Like the team just became completely out of sync and hasnt got synced back
