    Competition - Sky Bet Championship
    Venue - Swansea.com Stadium
    Date - 18 April 2025
    Kick off - 3pm

Following their hard fought but fully deserved away victory at The Stadium of Light against a Sunderland team who have already secured a Play Off place, next up for Alan Sheehan’s Swansea squad is a home fixture against a Hull City squad who are battling to stay in the Championship - possibly at the expense of Cardiff City.

Last Saturday, Sunderland were made to wait to guarantee themselves a top-four finish – and a home second leg in the Championship play-offs – as they lost at home to an in-form Swans squad that secured its third consecutive victory.

With the Black Cats already sure of their play-off place and the Swans all but safe in mid-table, there was not a great deal riding on this match.

Both sides had chances in an even first half, with Sunderland's Wilson Isidor having a goal disallowed for offside.

Ben Cabango blasted the Swans in front after the break as he followed up from centre-back partner Harry Darling's header which hit the crossbar.

Sunderland's efforts to score a late equaliser were in vain as they stay fourth in the Championship table, 12 points ahead of fifth-place Bristol City with four games left in the regular season.

The Swans’ third successive win lifts them up to 12th position, and now closer to the top six than they are the relegation zone.

On Monday evening, Abu Kamara's late equaliser earned Hull City a potentially precious point in their survival bid and kept Coventry City sixth in the Championship despite a dominant display from the Sky Blues at The MKM Stadium.

Ex-Swans captain Matt Grimes had given the visitors a deserved 46th-minute lead when the midfielder's first-time shot from outside the penalty area hit centre-back Charlie Hughes' leg and dribbled past wrong-footed goalkeeper Ivor Pandur.

Forward Kamara replied in equally fortuitous fashion, latching on to fellow substitute Nordin Amrabat's crossfield pass and seeing his curling effort from an angle hit Jay Dasilva and beat Bradley Collins at the goalkeeper's near post.

Hull are now three points above the relegation zone with four games remaining, and Coventry also have a three-point buffer to seventh-placed West Brom in the play-off race.

The Swans have played the Tigers on 85 previous occasions, winning 33, losing 31 and drawing 21.

In last year’s corresponding match, the teams drew 2-2 with the Tigers recovering from being 2-0 down:

Turning to tomorrow, I think that the Swans should win but have a feeling that Hull will return North with a point in a 1-1 draw. <cheers>

Thanks for your preview Taff. I think the pressure on Hull to get at least a point will be too much for them. If we start off on the front foot which is the way AS has done we will score early doors and that will be effectively game over with the confidence flowing through our side and with the supporters very much on our side too. 3 nil to the Swans.

Home against a "struggling" side and on a three win run.... does it ever go to plan? <laugh>

Hull will be fighting like hell (or should be) but we're still good enough to win. A draw seems likely.

Incredible - only 4 games to go and everyone can either be promoted or relegated, whilst the Swans could still do either

It would take a miracle for us to be relegated now....goal differences are too big...anyway CCFC would need to win all four games and us lose all 4

“Alan Sheehan has reported no new injury concerns for the Swans squad following the win over Sunderland on Wearside, but Hannes Delcroix is touch and go with an adductor problem which kept him out at Sunderland.

Kristian Pedersen and Filip Lissah are continuing their recoveries from injury, and have returned to training.”

Alan Sheehan: “I think we are in a positive place, so it’s beautiful to have that feeling.

“The aim has to be to keep it going. It’s a case of one game at a time, and Hull will be a difficult challenge with how they are doing and they will be battling for the points they need to stay in the division.

“They are coming to our place and we expect a difficult game. We have decent momentum, but we understand that can get taken away from you if you take it for granted.

“We have the challenge of finishing as high as we can, we need the group to believe in that and at the moment you can see a very good team.

“If we keep it going it means we will have got a whole lot right. We are where we are because of the values we have.

“But you cannot take it for granted, you have to hit those standards every time we go out on the pitch.

“We do not want to take our foot off the pedal, we want to continue our good run.

“This will be a tough test, we had a difficult game up there, Ruben (Selles) has done a good job there but we know we have a big crowd coming and we want to try and win another game.”

Ruben Selles: "We need to play the tempo we want to play, be as effective as we can in possession and attack the spaces we are preparing for in the game, then try to control defensively the moments.

"I think they are a different team now to one month ago and they are a different team to the one we played in December (winning 2-1). They were very close to the play-offs at that moment.

"Since they changed their manager they've got five victories and their team has changed its identity a little bit, (they are now) a very aggressive team with some very clear moments.

"They are a very dynamic team and they've scored a couple of goals from set-pieces in the last couple of games.

"It's going to be a difficult team to beat, a good challenge."

Ben Toner will be the man in the middle for today’s Championship meeting with Hull City at the Swansea.com Stadium.

It will be just the fifth time the man from Lancashire has refereed a Swans fixture, having previously had the whistle for a goalless draw at Huddersfield Town in November 2022, victories over Derby County and Queens Park Rangers this season and the recent draw with Leeds United.

This season he has taken charge of 37 games in all competitions, handing out 167 yellow cards and five red cards.

This afternoon, he will be assisted by Matthew Smith and Greg Read, while Oliver Mackey will be the fourth official.
