If we get away with it, buckle up, because the club doesn't have the money (likely) to go after marquee signings. We may even struggle to hold onto what might be considered prize assets. Lets hope that Millar and Belloumi come back without too much trouble, make pre season and kick on. I cant see us affording Joe Geldhardt and I see the squad being slimmed massively. We desperately need pace in the side, a striker with some presence about him. They are out there, lets hope we can find one. Two full backs and job done for me, unless as I have said we lose players we dont ideally want to lose.
Yes an(other) "interesting" summer ahead I think whatever happens, but that's City for you, especially under this ownership.
Money isn't looking great for summer by all accounts or is it just the interest that's running a little thin.....
I think he is a little bit bored of the project, his focus is on bigger fish or kebabs... Remember he wanted exciting football.
Crooks won’t go. I’d let Palmer go as I don’t think he fits what Sellés wants from his midfielders. Last night, there were a few times when Pedro and Lincoln were pressing Coventry’s backline and Palmer wasn’t in the right area to press his man. On a few occasions, Coventry beat our press and Pedro looked over his shoulder and saw Palmer several yards behind where he should be and he looked incredibly frustrated. Pressing high isn’t just about chasing players with the ball and running a lot. It needs to be coordinated just as much as passing. If one player isn’t pressing the right man, the whole thing just falls apart and the team just end up chasing shadows. Pedro and Lincoln seemed to have stuck to their instructions but Palmer wasn’t and Coventry were able to easily play out using Grimes and Sheaf as outlets. I’d also let Slater go. He’s a 5/10 player most games and has the odd 8/10 game. He doesn’t do enough in any area of the game. Doesn’t show for the ball enough in possession, doesn’t tackle enough, doesn’t make many interceptions, flubs opportunities on goal and isn’t creative. He just runs to look busy.
Slater has always been that player, but has had a knack of popping up with key moments consistently. Put 2 on a plate last night, assisted, scored or done the hard work creating by the opening for many more during his time here. Whilst I agree he’s definitely not first 11 material for the season at this level, I also assume he’s not costing us much, nor would we get much for him, so he’s definitely a really good squad player to have and can’t really see why we’d let him go, unless he wanted to leave himself.
His plane flew from La Romana Airport, Dominican Republic to Miami International Airport yesterday, so is probably busy filming a new series of Survivor for his TV channel. Hopefully we will see him at Monday's game.
Yeh, I agree he's a useful player to have in the squad and I'd imagine he's in a strange bracket were we wouldn't get the money worth his value to the squad. What do people see as his value/what would we get?
I don’t agree with you on Slater. He created the best two chances of the game last night. I wouldn’t have him in my starting line up - but as a squad player he’s valuable. Hes played in, what, at least 4 positions in his time here? He provides so much cover for us that if we were to sell we’d have a lot of work to do to replace the depth that he serves. I think every squad in the Championship needs a Slater.
He's bought 15 tickets for 'some' rugby league game at the MKM on Friday. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
How I felt leaving the game last night... Ps, also not sure how Palmer fits and Slater up until last night I thought he'd gone off the boil, last night in my top three
Just read that Egan came off with an unknown vision problem which is not concussion...hoping he'll be ok for Friday.
Must of been the game when the fans turned on Tim whatshisface. Interestingly enough I saw Nick Barmby in attendance, last night, with a biggest party. Wonder if he fancies putting a consortium together? Doubt it very much, but if Swansea can attract a Modric there's hope for City..Maybe a consortium of ex players.
