It's the nature of the beast, there's always a wreck near the end when everyone starts pushing aggressively. I think the large number of cars in it was only that high because, before that it, was fairly incident free for a superspeedway, only 2 cars were out. Usually there's a few wrecks during the race and the pack is thinned out, but they were packed tight, pushing hard and the leader got turned into the whole pack. It was ironic because quite a bit of the race they were 3 and 4 wide 8 cars deep, and was kinda expecting a wreck then, but they were 2 wide when they had 'the big one'
