I’ve championed him all season but save a rare piece of skill eg that outstanding effort at Preston he’s been a passenger in recent games. He’s not the player we need for a relegation scrap even though pound for pound he’s our most skilful player. A decent manager would get the best out of him.

A decent manager wouldn't have picked him.

That’s just daft. A decent manager obviously would pick him as we all know how good he can be as exemplified at Villa when he was outstanding. The team would benefit greatly if only Riza could get him, Robertson & say Ashford and/or Davies and/or Alves working together.
    However that’s lost on Riza.

    Not daft at all.

A decent manager would have seen through the hype and not rely on a single performance in a one-off cup fixture. The rest of the time he's been pants.

    And Bellamy????

To my mind Colwill is great when afforded time to play.
He's pretty good at wriggling out of tight spots and can clearly hit a ball, but he just doesn't have the bite and determination in him when things get scrappy and physical...

More coaching and guidance needed still sadly.

I don't blame Riza for not getting the most out of him as I don't think ANY manager has managed to do that yet.

It's crazy. A significant amount of our fans always loves the Gareth Stoker types opposed to players with skill and ability.

Colwill will move on to a higher level than us next season and do well.

Players swith skill and ability need to show it, not just promise it.

I'm convinced Tan/Dalman/Choo have seen Colwill as a future cash cow up until now - unfortunately the milk has run dry.

There’s no doubt that a player with his obvious skill and ability will stand out if he’s part of a team which isn’t constantly changed and has a manager who knows how to get the best out of his players.

To be fair we need both types and both provide value and entertainment in their own way.

A player with skill and ability has to show it in competitive games not just on the training ground.

I agree he probably has a higher skill level than most of our players, but a live game is different to a bit of keepy uppy and a few tricks in training.

For his and all our sakes I would love to see him prove me wrong. I've been waiting all season.

You cannot blame the manager - any manager - when a player with "obvious skill and ability" fails to produce those qualities no matter with whom he's playing. His skills lie dormant whilst he waits for others around him to do the mileage.

He's a total passenger at a time when we need guts and effort to turn the opposition over rather than live in the forlorn hope of him producing a "moment of magic".

It's not a question of what we want - it's a question of what we've got. I'd like to see flowing passing movement and magic feet mesmerising the opposition, but the facts are we are where we are right now, and Colwill ambling around the pitch isn't going to help matters.

OK, 5 minutes and we see where the roulette wheel has finished regarding formation and which players the scattergun has hit to start.
