True and it's a bit of a risk. We do also have Krafth who can play at CB. If there are some real bargains of youngsters out there, then happy days but I wouldn't want to prioritise usage of a limited budget there when there are more pressing concerns in the 1st team. Hopefully someone like Cathal Heffernan from the U21's can step up as well.

You mean the Burn and Schar who have turned a pretty solid partnership?

We have 2/3 CBs in the u21s who in all honesty should be training with the first team. They are as old as Huijsen is. Difference is he got the chance in another league, caught the eye and got bought. Sometimes we need to field them.

I wouldn't be against Lewin because I think he'd do well at Newcastle. I think he's underrated because he's surrounded by dross.

His injuries would be a concern, but he's a different club in the bag, and not many players of his standard would come knowing know they'll be a bench warmer most games. Essentially filling that position isn't easy.

He's a decent player with a higher potential that would be free... If he does ok they can sell him some day.

Lewin's just crap and injury prone. It's like finally we''d be replacing Wilson, but with Wilson.

Wilson was signed at the same age for 20 million. Lewin free would make sense and he's definitely not a crap player.

Lewin only makes sense if we sell him on in the same window. Free money!

Where do you get this weird idea lewin does this? And to a high enough standard?! I’ve seen DCL a number of times and whilst he’s maybe competent in the air, he has **** all else about him. I’d much rather play Osula than bother with DCL.

His hold up play is very good... Osula is as rough a player as you'll find.

Lewin's a decent player he's just injured a lot and he's been in poor sides.

It’s really not! Besides, he’s injured far too much, which is the exact issue we’ve had with Wilson.

Really I can't disagree more strongly because he's very good at sticking the ball to and gets out of difficult situations. He'd be free and of a high enough quality to be here. If you're thinking gyokerez or David want to come here to be a squad player you're mistaken and what would be left for RW and cb? **** all.

A striker of Lewin's quality would cost quite a lot of cash and David will not want to warn the bench even if he's free it ain't happening I don't think.

Or, and here’s a radical notion, why don’t we scout the type of player we need from abroad for a smaller fee. Preferably someone who’s not made of paper!

I think they've covered that with Osula, but with summer almost upon us, Wilson probably being moved on, there's a requirement to replace him.

Replacing Wilson would usually cost a huge fee and we'd not get anywhere without having the funds to fill other positions.

Lewin ticks a lot of boxes and he's free, so it's probably a good decision on and off the pitch moving forward. If he does well they can flog him.

Lewin would represent a hole being plugged while signing a GK, cb, and a rw player with funds would be progression.

Tbf it depends on signing on fee, the wages he wants and agent fees.

They would have that if they bought a highly expensive striker. The club has to trade well and there was a time we wouldn't be able to land a player of Lewin's ability on a free.

Not necessarily. I don't were looking at a highly expensive striker. You never know what surprises the scouts come up with.

Just sign Delap for £40m (he may have a release clause).

We have a ready made young hungry striker.

He's not going to want to be back up though. Would DCL want to be back up as well?

Unless we're at times going to be playing two up top. In which case Delap would be immense.

Though I'd like to see Neave given a chance. And Osula.
