Depressing read but accurate. I like Selles and I obviously want him to succeed but the best that I can say is that we’ve only ever seen an inconsistent new manager bounce. The ongoing fact that it seems absolutely impossible for us to win two games on the bounce is fantastic for the betting market but so frustrating for us supporters. If we survive the drop will Ruben keep his job or will it be yet another unsuccessful mass overhaul? Over to you Acun.
Selles has improved us, from a low base. Still lots to do, but it is heading in the right direction. He gets next season as far as I am concerned. We don’t struggle to win consecutive games because Selles is the wrong manager. We do that because we are a poor side in the throes of a tense and nervous relegation fight. That article from Baz was largely cobblers aimed at riling the Twitter blowhards. I see no evidence of a lack of effort. I see plenty of hesitancy, poor decision making and nervousness. That’s what a relegation dogfight creates. We will quite likely need a point on the last day against Portsmouth to survive (they might well need the same). Baz needs to get used to it.
Back to the game Palmer to come off the bench and score or assist to rescue a point against his former club
He's definitely earned the opportunity to stay (should we stay up), like Walter before him he's had some v unfortunate luck with injuries to Matazo and Barry, and we're in a much better position than when he started. There are prob at least 10 (if not more) teams in this league who are as irritatingly inconsistent as we've been under Selles since he started, they were simply starting from a better position compared to when he came in.
We're currently out of the bottom 3 and even if results don't go our way will be before the game on Monday (even if its just GD), I'd rather be use than Luton, Cardiff and Stoke as of today.
5 games left, and I reckon we need 5 points to stay up, a point a game! If we can't achieve that we don't deserve to stay up.
Games concerning teams in and around us Once again there are key 6 *pointers...Perhaps draws would suit us. Plymouth v. Sheff Utd *Cardiff v. Stoke Luton v. Blackburn * Portsmouth v. Derby Sheff Wed v. Oxford
Plymouth v. Sheff Utd Away *Cardiff v. Stoke Home Luton v. Blackburn Home * Portsmouth v. Derby Home Sheff Wed v. Oxford Draw
I was at the Watford game on Tue. Agree, I didn't see any lack of effort I saw a team that has no leader on the pitch (in fact we've had no leader since Ashbee left) & no quality striker up top. We have to give Selles more time & the chance to get rid of players he doesn't want & bring in better players in the summer.
This is so over the top and would only be the case if you mean that without him we would be playing with 10 men and no keeper.
