Looking at the quality of opposition left, he only needs 20 minute cameo appearance for the next 2-3 games. We need to get promotion secured early then see if we can get a game out of him ready to move on
Greenwood can’t face us on Saturday, he has been an important player for them, I’d forgot we had him, I think they said 4 goals 5 assists
As that little fishing trip is directed at me Essex me old mukka, is it not ok then to point out when they are having quiet spells? I like both of them, but they've not been on it recently. Just 'cos you and Risty don't know your tanaka's from your knackers. Raphinha was great for us, and the best bit about him was his effort and that he clearly gave a sh*t - as the Brentford game demonstrated. But in his early time for us (and Rodrigo was the same, as was Rutter, later)... he did try the fancy stuff at the wrong end of the pitch too often. That's objective, constructive criticism bud, not moaning . Moaning would be blaming the manager every day for everything that goes wrong whether its within or outside their control. Hope that's cleared it up
I wouldn't be commenting on the standard of the remaining fixtures given we were hopeless against second worst team in division only a week ago. That's what leads to the wrist slashing here and all over with Leeds fans when results go wrong
Good evening all. I might be tempted to start with Bamford who might be better at stretching their defence and tire them for Piroe to come on late and hopefully score a couple. No way Bamford lasts a full game but (and it might only be perception, yes I’m asking Aski to confirm) but does Piroe score more when coming on as sub. Sorry to have to say it but Joseph just isn’t ready and doesn’t deserve any minutes.
I'm not at home so don't have all the data but I'll do my best. In 36 starts Piroe has scored 23 goals. He scored 12 goals in 15 starts last season, and 11 goals in 21 starts this season. From the bench he's scored 6 goals from 25 appearances. Last season he got 2 goals, having been brought on 15 times. This season he has 4 goals from the 10 appearances he's made as a substitute. Can't do the breakdown by goals per minutes played as I don't have the data handy, but common sense would suggest that the goals per minutes played would probably be higher when he's been brought on as a sub, as that's when we are probably chasing the game to get a result
For me Bamford definitely deserves more time. Not sure I would start him but certainly give him at least 30 minutes. Agree about Joseph. Pre-season I had high hopes for him kicking on but sadly he has flattered to deceive and is not worth the time on pitch at this point of the season in my view.
Ok finally in a position to answer this properly (btw I was fine, it was a family member who needed treatment and they are currently stable in hospital, but thanks to both yourself and Ristac for the well wishes ) So as I mentioned in my rushed response, I expected that Piroe's goals ratio from the bench would be better than when starting, just by the very nature of bringing a striker on in that situation, tactically the games changes, especially the way Farke seems to go for desperation of all out attack in those scenarios. However Piroe has not scored from the bench this season in any of those situations. We have been in the lead in each of the 4 games, prior to him scoring after coming on to replace one of the starting players The 4 goals he has scored after coming on as a substitute this season, has been the 2nd goals in the 2-0 victorys at home to Hull and QPR, the away game at Cardiff, and he scored the 3rd goal in the 3-0 victory at home to Coventry. So whilst they have probably helped ease the nerves, none of them have been points earning goals, although it can be argued that those goals helped to kill the game off. The games where he has come off the bench and not scored, has been the home game against Portsmouth (provided an assist for Brendan), the 2-0 away win at Sheff Wed ( we were 2-0 up when he came on), the home defeat to Burnley, the away draw at Norwich (score was already 1-1 when he came on for Ramazani), the home game in the 3-1 win against Middlesborough (provided assist for our 2nd goal scored by Dan James) and provided the assist for Brendan in the 1-0 victory away at Derby, so his assist have probably been more crucial than his goals when appearing as a substitute.
