What are the chances we let Ramsdale out on a season loan next season with the hope that we bounce back? I don’t see us doing better than mid table in all honesty but for some reason a bit of me still has hope
Very unlikely I would say given he has a relegation release clause and by all accounts there's no shortage of interest in him.
The amount of relegations he has suffered we should have never included that clause. Let’s hope he can take Chelsea down next year.
There’s a bit in the Echo about their striker Romulo scoring a hat trick in the cup quarter final, and having scored 11 league goals in not many games. 15 goals in total. Could be an option Edit https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/25062943.southampton-fans-saying-thing-romulo-besiktas-treble/
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is a big fan of Southampton goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale and is considering meeting a £25m clause to sign the 26-year-old England international. (Football Insider)
Never thought we’d have trouble getting our money back on Ramsdale. Could be interest from quite a few clubs too. Chelsea, Bournemouth, Newcastle, Leeds if they go up. Any others? Maybe West Ham and Man Utd.
Means we get him back if we come straight back up. Wouldn’t mind it at all, financially should be fine for this season with parachute payments etc and likely sales if Dibling and Fernandes should bring in enough to strengthen the team sufficiently. I see Delap has been confirmed as having a £30m release clause, imagine someone will take a chance at that price, I reckon Everton
Just seen that Delap has a £30m release clause. Probably means Ipswich will need to sell a few more to make £100m to cover the revenue drop. I really hope they lose McKenna too but seems unlikely.
The 30mil release clause is in the event of relegation. It would have been 40 otherwise. And I suspect Delap wouldn't have signed without them.
Plus they still make some money on him. Back in the summer they might have thought it unlikely anyone would activate it if they went down. Doubt anyone expected him to have as good an individual season as he is
I'd be fine with loaning Ramsdale out for the season, subject to having most of his wages covered. I've said before that I think replacing him this summer could be really difficult. I wouldn't want to bring in a young PL keeper on loan, because I think a keeper should have experience. And I think we'd struggle to find a keeper on a permanent basis who is good enough for the PL (in the event that we get promoted). I'm pretty resigned to having either McCarthy or Bazunu as our keeper next season. Sadly. But at least by only loaning out Ramsdale, we'd be able to have him straight back if we were to get promoted. I do though firmly expect him to be sold.
Agreed. I also don't mind the idea that's been floated on a couple of websites that we might loan some players to Goztepe. Again, that's assuming we can't/don't want to sell them and their wages are covered.
He’s too good for the championship, if we don’t come up we let him go. McCarthy will be ok, provided we get defence and defensive midfield right. Bazunu can go on loan to a L1 or L2 team, maybe someone will eventually buy him.
