Only chance for buying Edwards is if Eze is sold and we get something like 10 million spending money. And he thinks we are a better project than Southampton... But they have parachute payments and have other players on bigger money to sell. So really cannot see it
In fairness to the Board, they've been desperate for the new stadium but after all the noise, it still seems a far off dream. Are they even bothering anymore? Anyone ITK??
Good win and 3 desperate points gained. Varane is turning out to be a real solid purchase. Edwards is a level above this and has done himself no harm if he's looking to leave the Saints for a premier league team. We should be looking towards another season in the championship and basing a team around the likes of Morrison, Varane and even Bennie (who had some very bright movement). It felt like it was a goodbye to Paal which I'm not actually bothered about.
Paal all but went to Watford last season. I don't think he fancied them. He goes on a free. He is ok at this level ( lower Championship) but if we have any aspirations of a higher finish we need a new competent and hungry back
A mention for Nardi. Super save at 1 nil. Good strike from their man for Nardi to leap left and push the ball away. Had that gone in, quite possibly a different result.
Did Yang save Cifuentes’ job last night? The way Cifuentes and his team celebrated, with that wild manic look about them, when the third went in makes me think quite possibly. Delighted with the win, but Oxford are comfortably the worst team I’ve seen over two matches this season, it’s a mystery to me how they haven’t been relegated already with no points. We played well defensively and won the first ball consistently for long periods of the game, and gratefully accepted the first two goals which were gifts.
We'll never know. It could just have been a mixture of passion and massive relief too. How many more points do we need and where are they coming from?
We need to stop signing hungry players They are always weak Sign a few that eat three meals a day for a change
Could be that we don’t need any more. Five games to go and seven teams of the nine below us need to overtake us. I haven’t looked at the fixtures but some of them must be playing each other as well. Pretty sure that we won’t beat last seasons points total though.
Cardiff v Stoke and Pompey v Derby on Saturday. All handshakes and bidding good luck after at both I hope.
Would also say that’s Plymouth totally done for now given the games they have. Probably need 12 points from 15 which ain’t happening.
Reassuring. I do wonder whether we might get a point at PNE and maybe Swans at home for a draw or even a win. We usually beat a team that's expecting to thump us aswell. Would love that to be Brizzle! Don't think we will exceed last year's 56 but then it's QPR and anything can happen.
I thought yesterday's game was almost the reverse of our match at Stoke Stoke pressed and moved the ball more effectively than we did; yesterday we did those much better than Oxford I was surprised that when we played out via Edwards he was afforded so much space - they surely must've analysed that he likes to move forward with the ball as opposed to just launching it as Dunne frequently does
