the atmosphere is not aided by the away fans being downstairs

they openly state that the atmosphere is reactive and not reflective of our league position

we explode into a rapturous noise in a crescendo like manner when a tackle flies in which suggests to me it doesn’t take much to get feedback from the crowd. However it’s highly naive to not suggest that our style of play has not impacted the atmosphere

large swathes of the game without the ball and you only need to look at the noise when we’re pushing for an equaliser in comparison to see the contrast, it’s night and day.

take the Preston game, very loud during their shenanigans during the pause of play, through to our goal and on to full time. Why? Because we had a been in our bonnet and it was relentless attacking from us.

I think it will help, moving the away fans into the lower bowl. Agree with the other points though.

Aye one example for me is Burnley at home this season, the SOL was bouncing for the full game because you could see the players getting at them and giving 100%, I’m not for or against away fans moving but you’re right imo

Closer both sets of fans are the better the atmosphere, look at the famous Roker End photo where both fans are goading each other, great atmosphere.
Too sterile now with flags and light shows and stuff, bring the edge back I say

    It’s aided by both

If away fans are singing next to us we go back, it happens at away grounds around the country

It's a bit of both but the atmosphere in general massively declined when the away fans were moved as far away as possible to the south stand. Football chants are basically designed to bounce off each other, that's not possible at the minute.

It was absolute madness moving them into essentially a huge megaphone especially when there are no home fans allowed within about 50 metres of them up there.

For me the only option left is the SE corner and move the family section to SW corner.

The rationale for this is that the BCB is about to be redeveloped and the club would not be looking to put away fans near corporates in the North Stand.

It would liven up the south end of the East stand and families are close enough to enjoy the atmosphere in SW corner whilst not impinging on the corporates.

I dont know what happened there. Football is too sanitised now, the supporters used to be working class, now its been changed into something else

Personally I'd leave the away fans upstairs.

I doubt the south stand would be happy with moving from there, as that's where the cells and security centre is. Where else are they going to go?

Also I think some are just remembering the games where the away fans had a decent following and the atmosphere was better. For the most part, the away section was half empty, just looked **** and didn't affect the atmosphere at all.

As I recall it,when the SoL opened, the North Stand was expected to be the Atmospheric,Bouncing,Singing Home End,but,as the away fans were placed in the SW corner, sections of our support gravitated towards the South Stand, for the proximity atmosphere. The club then decided,in order to try to create an A,B,S Home End in the South Stand,to move the away support into the Gods,a la the Mags. This needs a proper sorting out and quick. There's no doubt that the atmosphere at our home matches has become subdued and the SoL is no longer the fortress it was during the Reidy days and is a million miles away from what Roker Park could become.

Would be a good move imo, can’t whinge about the atmosphere being ****e then moan about moving the away fans when that’s one of the biggest contributors. Move them down into the North directly below, nowhere near as many season ticket holders to displace. Away busses are already there. **** the posh pie bars:emoticon-0102-bigsm

Season ticket holders have until 5pm on Friday 11th April to renew their seat for the 2025-26 campaign!

Fans wishing to spread the cost of their new season ticket via a direct debit payment plan must also sign up for the new campaign by 5pm on Friday!

Following Friday’s deadline, seats are subject to being released and loyalty pricing will no longer be available.

Supporters are also reminded that the option to spread the season ticket cost over six direct debit payments will no longer be available after Friday’s deadline.

I got an email last week (I think) to say it was automatically done, if you were in the DD scheme does it automatically put you onto the new one with 6 payments?

If you don't want to renew do you just untick the DD option in the account?
