I’d imagine that if they’re waiting to see how he responds they won’t let him play any time soon and we might not see him for a few weeks – possibly the rest of the season.
Doesn't sound like Puerta plans on being here regardless of whether we buy him or not. http://twitter.com/HDMHullCity/status/1910222463813759426?t=B40Xhegi2IxTAC-bQ9jmWQ&s=19
Could always be a translation issue and he means a team competing higher up the table next year (i.e. us going for the play offs).
Selles must have been behind signing Joseph, but our recent managers signings have been horrific. Mehlem, Joseph, Connolly and Allsopp. Jury is out on Joseph but the best of those has been Allsopp, says a lot. You could also put the left back from Brighton whose name escapes me.
I saw this article and came to the same conclusion. Maybe the tummy bug is a ploy so the clause doesnt kick in... ?? If Alzate and Slater go, Mattazo not back until maybe November..no news on Zambrano, Crooks on a one year deal ... we might just be a bit light... BUT all ifs buts and maybes dependent on where we are.
Puerta saying he wants to move to a bigger club is fine. He’s 21, he clearly has ambition, and let’s be honest: a team fighting relegation in the Championship isn’t a young footballer’s dream. If he ends up being our player and we see him realise that ambition, I don’t see a problem with him being open about wanting to play at the highest level he can.
Joseph like Kamara, young players still learning their trade, both of whom are unlikely to be regular starters once Millar and Belloumi return, they'll come good. All assuming we stay up!
The thing with Joseph is that he’s 24 this year. He’s the same age as Drameh or Matazo and almost exactly two years younger than Slater. He doesn’t have that much longer left to use his “young player” card.
I thought Mehlem was pretty good for what we paid, 3 assists was alright in the appearances he made and the highest this season which given that Kamara has also managed 3 and wasn't shipped out on loan, probably says more about our team's problems than the player. Connolly managed 8 goals and was a cheap transfer. We didn't know it at the time but he was struggling behind the scenes and the head injury probably did more damage to him mentally than physically. Joseph...dunno, if we sign an actual goal scorer he'd be a great foil for them, a bit like Deano was for Campbell. Allsop had obvious flaws, but he had strengths too. He isn't as good as Pandur by any stretch, but my frustration isn't with Allsop for that, it's with Rosenior for not playing the better keeper.
We've never had a problem signing central midfielders in the past, can't see it being an issue. If we do go down, we'll have a bigger budget than pretty much every club in the division AND we wouldn't have FFP tripping us up because the rules are different down there (see Birmingham). We'd lose Pandur and Puerta for certain (regardless of whether he signs or not), maybe Slater, Macca, Kamara and Jones too if there was serious interest and money on the table. Hughes potentially if he has a good end to this season. The loan players won't be coming back, with the exception of Zambrano who we're supposed to be buying. The injured players wouldn't be going anywhere until January at the earliest. They're on big contracts (Belloumi signed a 4+1 deal, Matazo is contracted until 2028 and Millar is here until at least 2027) and have just missed two thirds of a season, nobody is going to touch them until they've proved they're capable of playing.
I think Puerta, as well as a couple of others, are excessively hyped sometimes. He's a good, promising player but people talk as if he's a cut above anything else we've got and I'm not sure I see that.
