Actually got banned from Wet & Wild on the Algarve (near Albufeira) back in my 20s ... They had staff at the top of the biggest water slides who would space you out going down the slides that went through tunnels in the fake mountain before emerging into the big pool at the bottom. There were 4 of us - one was a rugby player with Coventry - he wasn't happy with the speed of descent so came up with a plan which involved us smearing ourselves with liquid soap from the loos for less friction but also slowing in the tunnel until all 4 of us were together - not really allowed for safety reasons ... anyway, all went to plan and when the last joined we carried on and emerged into the sunlight - what he hadn't counted on was the effect of the soap ... we emerged into an absolute wall of suds and bubbles ... and security all round the pool ... ****ers wouldn't even let us change ... escorted to the gates in our budgie smugglers ... but to rousing applause from the crowd
So what you’re saying is, you and your rugger buddies got thrown out of a water park for rubbing soap on each other?
None of you knew that if you add liquid soap to water, it makes bubbles? I hope your friends were good at rugby is all I can say.
Only one played rugby ... but yes....... me, my cousin and 2 lads from Coventry that we were put in a taxi with on arrival at Faro ... 'Budget Bed' hol in Villamoura ...
I actually read the other day the whole reason china went green energy (apart from it being new tech) was to become energy independent. Makes a lot of sense when you think about it as it they dont really have many gas/oil reserves. A ton of coal i think.
It makes absolute sense. And I don't know why more countries don't do it. I know you get some people who cry about it being a woke agenda, but the UK can be energy independent with wind and hydro. I think most of the UK's electricity is now produced by wind and there are plans to expand the projects at Dogger Bank and other offshore wind farms With improvements in battery tech too, storage is getting better all the time also.
Only one mate ... but from that chance encounter in a taxi, I'm godfather to his eldest lad, who will now be in his late thirties and him to my youngest girl who turned 20 last month ...

Maybe... but around 20 or 30 years ago when solar panels were becoming more popular there were companies in Europe, America, Asia- that's when China started subsidizing the industry like crazy (like to the tune of China was able to produce solar panels for half the cost of anyone else) and the industry was almost wiped out in Europe and America because no one could compete. Now they don't have to subsidize as much anymore because they've already put most of the competition out of business. They've done it in other industries too, I think LED light bulbs was one, and currently doing it with electric cars (although I don't mind if they put Tesla out of business ). It's a difficult topic because just like tariffs, China has the right to do this, but other countries naturally get annoyed by this and view it as a form of economic warfare. And just like tariffs, its shooting yourself in the foot a little bit because you're weakening the economy elsewhere by pumping money into one industry. The difference is- the subsidy issue is China with a scalpel saying "we're going to be world leaders at this technology" and Trump's tariffs are "I'm going to destroy the world economy with this oversized hammer." Both are anti free market, one is clearly more reckless than the other. I think the appropriate response if a government of one country subsidizes an industry to a large extent is to place tariffs on that one industry in retaliation.
The biggest issue is transmission of the green energy. I know that the National grid has a huge capital investment program to address this, but we’re still a few years away from the benefits.

Trump is rescinding Obama legislation that was part of a green agenda to save water during shower usage... claiming it took 'a ridiculous amount of time' to wet his hair... surely he could have just put it in the shower tray whilst he body washed? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cm2eeggyppzo
