I feel it's a bit of a shame we have clearly set up like that though. Seems we have sort of given up on top 2. I mean it's unlikely but you never know.
Playoffs secured and we were better in the second half, especially after the subs, but that was a tough watch. I'd give Patterson my MOTM, only starting player with pass marks for me. Another game we don't win when Jobe isn't playing. If people can't see what he brings to the team at this point they never will, our best player and it isn't remotely close. No coincidence the midfield looked a lot better when Browne was moved out of it, Jones looked 10x the player and he barely did anything. ELF also made a huge difference, the sharpness, the vision and the ability to just be calm in tight situations and keep the ball moving is what top level players bring. Shame we couldn't win as results went for us tonight but playoffs secured with 5 games left is a big achievement. Need to improve if we are to win them though.
Happy with the clean sheet away from home, get people’s frustrations but for me us leap frogging one of the three teams above us nevermind two is and was an almost impossible task, a win in Saturday makes this game look a bit better
No conviction of trying to put pressure on those above us - will cost us when Milwall win the play off final
what I’m pleased about is we’ve looked hard to score against since the international break. That’s big in playoffs
Congratulations to RLB to guiding us into the play offs.....tremendous achievement in your first year at the club. Clearly you will have your critics from the hindsight club but sir.....well done!
Reggie can't win. People cry out for rotation and tonight he does it and now he's getting pelters for not trying to win the match!
yes players were poor and this doesn’t help things but if you can’t see how organised the coach tries to make the team I don’t know what to say the focus was clearly on shape and compactness and staying on the game, we didn’t chase loose balls, we shepherd and guarded space it’s obvious to me and the fact Neil was poor individually for example does not escape the fact that we kept it tight until the subs, as if that was the game plan
You’re very very wrong here. he didn’t instruct them to miss through ball opportunities, stand out of position, give the ball away easily and invite pressure
Dan Neil was beyond poor tonight ... ... kept losing his man in defence, losing the ball in midfield and losing all sense of direction with his passing. When Jobe isn't there he looks absolutely lost.
there will be plenty of Sunderland fans wanting Regis out if we lose in the playoffs so I’m not going to judge Sheff Utd fans too harshly but that’s ridiculous
