So after picking up what could normally have been considered a decent point on the road last time out at QPR, the City now find themselves with a long midweek trip up to Deepdale to face a faltering Preston side who have seen their slim play-off hopes fade away having picked up just 1 win in their last 9 games. Ordinarily another point away from home would be deemed a decent thing but given the situation we find ourselves in and with North End's poor form we really have to be pushing for all 3 points again - a repeat of last season's 2-1 win would do just nicely!! The Bluebirds find themselves undefeated across their past three league games, though it still sees them in the bottom three, level on points with Derby just above them but crucially under the line due to goal difference. A win against mid-table Preston could be enough to see them into safety, with Stoke City also within catching distance. Preston have won both of their last two league meetings with Cardiff, last winning more in a row over the Bluebirds in January 2000 (4). Since the start of 2020, Cardiff have won four of their five league visits to Preston (L1), winning this exact fixture last season 2-1. Preston are unbeaten in their last 25 midweek (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) league games played at home (W11 D14) since a 0-1 defeat to Watford back in February 2021. Cardiff have only won one of their last 11 midweek (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) league games (D3 L7), a 1-0 victory over Hull in February. Preston's Paul Heckingbottom has won each of his last five league games against Cardiff City since a 0-1 defeat with Barnsley in November 2017.
Sorry for the brief thread folks.... still doing a spot of overtime here..... C'mon the City!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't think any of us would have e chosen that 11. Looks like a back 5, or back 3 with overlapping full backs. Somehow Colwill keeps his place. Better attacking options on the bench. I'm far from confident about us getting anything here.
Thanks Brizzle. Showing great commitment as always. I don't know what to say about that line up. When we need wins and we're playing a side not overly renowned for goalscoring, why so defensive? Mind you, I've been trying to understand the selections and tinkering for months now so I probably shouldn't expect to start understanding now. Anyway C'mon City Bloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooobirds
I wish he'd stop tinkering. How the hell do they line up? 523, 532, 343? Just stick to $uck!ng 4231! Where the hell will Colwill play? Unbalanced again. Tw@t.
For once, the BBC guess on formation is as good as any. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/live/cewgx22e29qt#CardiffCity
Nah, Rino and O'Dowda wing backs. Chambers and Mannsverk midfield. Colwill at 10 and Salech and Ashford up front. Hardly designed to score goals unless Colwill comes good, at last.
5 mins Chambers has given possession away 3 times. Going to be a long night. Have to get a grip in midfield.
Well he clearly has learned nothing. He's put a defensive side out and let the opposition take the game to us and sure enough we're a goal fown
It's not just recalling Goutas and Daland who have both been hopeless it's a change of system as well. Players look utterly clueless. Saying that there are so many poor players in this side.
Changing personnel is one thing, but continually changing formation is bonkers. Especially when he unbalances things. It's very lopsided. AGAIN.
A 1st half behond uselessness and no fight. The defence is useless. WTF was Bagan dropped. Centre of midfield is absolute garbage. Chambers is so bad it's laughable. Colwill a 5 year old could deliver set plays and Ashford and Salech. completely isolated. Going down without a fight.
Not happy then? I can't help feeling we're making players poor again because of the random selections and game plans. I wonder how Vince will react.
