There are people who end up homeless due to other issues other than addiction or mental health issues . 2 - exactly - the political elite don’t care about humans . They’re psychopaths. 3 - yeah , throwing change at ones like this doesn’t help anyone . But would you genuinely have swapped places there and then . They were pissed , getting cash and meals deals etc but then sleeping down suchiehall lane . You were stressed and fighting for you and your families future . You have the mental fortitude to do so . Homelessness isn't really tge problem though is it? As has been previously mentioned a lot of the long term vagrancy are there by choice. The problem is the supposed lack of affordable housing for those who don't. The massive bill we have to pay to private landlords charging exhortation rate rents to benefit claimants and the fact this generation is the first to less well off than the previous one and can't get on the housing ladder. I live in an ex council house and for the past 6-7 years most of the Council stock around me has been given to foreigners. Pakistani and African families. There is a "single parent" with 6 kids who moved in 2 doors down and has been an absolute nightmare since day one. Loud, obnoxious and pissed up most of the time. She's been done for drink driving, selling drugs and child abandonment. We punish her by paying her bills and giving her enough benefits to keep her pished and doped out of her head 24/7. I wonder how she would be treated in her native Ghana acting the way she does. Anyhow, the fact Mears claim to have enough council accommodation to house 7000 immigrants is astonishing to me when native people are said to waiting on council housing for up to 3 years. Social housing is a benefit. If you haven't paid into the system then you shouldn't be getting said benefit or any other for that matter. It seems to me that they are lying to white indigenous people about the lack of housing stock when the can always find houses for immigrants and have 7000 in cold storage just in case. Utter rot. I handed out 200 sandwiches, 200 Mars bars and at least 500 hot drinks at Christmas alongside the Salvation Army, all at my own personal cost. I've been doing so for the last decade and, God willing, I'll do it for many more to come.
