The rust belt in America is already in a depression and has been for years. Globalisation has had the effect of hundreds of thousands losing jobs, making everything more expensive, etc etc They are voting for a huge overhaul of the current regime. A recession and crashing the stock market doesn’t bother them in tbe slightest. Removing Medicaid and social security helps to reduce the tax burden on these people. So they support it. This is literally why Trump won the populist vote. Huge change against the globalist regime

I 100% agree with this but i am no longer convinced this strategy work and feel that economic regeneration will take 5 to 10 years to bear fruition. By this time China will eclipse the US and counties like Canada, Australia and the UK together with the UK will have reaigned with them too. This is on top of Asia where countries like India, Korea and Japan are realising that supporting China is in their interest. China and the EU are also keen to realign. I get what Trump is doing but it will end up being a disaster for the US. Not even sure that the Democrats will salvage the economic situation. I really feel Starmer needs to get on board with China. There is a window to bring China from the cold and we need to back China and not US. As a socialist leader, Starmer is better placed to liaise with more Left leaning regimes as opppsed to American capitalism which no longer reflects our values. I feel that an anti American atance from the rest of the world will also help with political reform in China. The US is in terminal decline. We need to ditch them as they are not an ally. China is a better option that the current extreme Right Wing regime in US. The world can then unite against Trump and Putin.
