I listened to the first 15 minutes in the car and completely forgot we were playing. Well done SR, fastest relegation in PL history.
First half was appalling. Looked like the players rocked up knowing they were getting relegated today. Second half was better but only really because the game was over and it was played at basically a testimonial pace. VAR was ****ing awful. Pathetic it took that long and then when they put it on the screen he didn't even look offside to me. Says it all when our fans were singing against it even though it went in our favour. On officiating how was Ramsdale not sent off for his handball? Fans were pretty good. Forgot how much of a suntrap it is there which made people subdued at times imo. ****ing scorchio. Glad it's mathematically done now. Roll on next season.
Oh and it was great to meet up with LTL and Lincs. Top blokes. Turned out I was only one not to get a round in too
Despite this being one of my worst ever Saints supporting seasons and how ****ing useless and ****ing embarrassing it has been, I don't regret promotion. 26/5/2024 one of the best days ever. Alot of players will leave at the end of the season but we will still be here. Looking forward to next season, whatever it may bring COYR
Agreed. We’ve all said what needed saying, knowing full that no one in SR or wherever will know or care about. So looking forward to first match at SMS for season 25/6 whatever the lineup etc is!!
A 2-1 win against Wrexham. Jay puts Wrexham ahead on his return to SMS. He refuses to celebrate out of respect. It's a shot from the edge of the box which Bazunu really should be saving. But Adam Armstrong scores twice to turn the game around. Ross Stewart was due to start. But he got injured in the warm-up and is expected to miss at least four years.
I agree with your first point about keeping Fernandes. He is very good already at a very young age. He would beast it in the Championship! I wouldn't compare him to Alcaraz though. Nowhere near the same composure on the ball IMHO. As mentioned earlier how is he getting on at Everton? I see he was subbed on late, yesterday.
I'm not comparing them as players. My point was more that we managed to somehow keep hold of Alcarez when we relegated before, but we duly gave him a manager who was totally ill-suited to him. He was a shadow of the player last season as compared to the season before, and I put that on Martin. Alacarez should have shone last season.
On the train (finally) to get home. Thoughts on the game. Firstly, they're all ****. Absolutely turbo, mega ****. Apart from Fernandes no one seemed to want to turn in a professional performance. At least make an attempt to put yourself in the shop window you massive ****ing pussies. Secondly SR have the most enormous rebuild ever during the Summer. I expect one in one out pretty much the entirety of the summer window. Finally was absolutely lovely to have a beer with Libby and Laces. I'm 100% in trouble with Mrs Lincoln when I get home but a great day and I'm nicely pissed to take the edge of this dreadful season when I get home. Championship ole ole ole
Was a pleasure mate. I literally made my coach by about 2 minutes so a lesson learned there about time it takes to get through seven sisters after the game. Not normally a fan of concourse singing but that half time was absolute class. Must be some cracking videos out there.
Likewise - half time the most fun part of the game, and an absolute pleasure to hang out with Libs and Lincoln and mini-Lincs. Lincs - you may be in trouble with Mrs Lincoln, but at least you didn't get home pissed to open the door and see your mother-in-law who had decided to stay
Amazing I got "you could have got at least 4 trains before the one you ended up on, what were you up to?" And "you're taking the piss asking for a lift home at 8 pm for a 2 o'clock kick off." Totally worth it though, I've got a sneaking suspicion I'm going to suffer in terms of hangover tomorrow mind.
