It's the third line drawn to Romero's shoulder that gets me The only way those could be remotely in the same place is if his arm had been torn from its socket
I'd lije to see him get a 15 minute rest, but his influence is such that we could end up losing this one!
Feels like we're trying to manage the last 15-20 minutes, but only demonstrating why our midfield gets overrun more often than my castle defences on Shogun Total War 2
I want my striker to score, not arsed if he works hard or good at pressing. Solanke doesn’t score enough. I think I read he’s scored 1 league goal in 2025 so far, that’s absolutely shocking
This is where data comes into it: last season Sonny and Richy were two of the top three forwards for creating chances off turnovers, so Solanke was brought in to build on that (or, as is surely the case, replace Richy who the club were hoping to get some Saudi cash for to invest elsewhere), with the likely expectation that if he didn't score he's created an opening for Sonny/Johnson/Deki/whoever But with our press going to **** this season, then he's not creating openings and he's relying on our wide players to create chances for him...when opposition teams are wise to what we're doing so they pack the middle It's a classic failure chain
It’s why data alone doesn’t work for me, also the data of his goal scoring shows he’s not a top level striker. He works hard and has good parts to his game but he’s not good enough at the essential thing which is a big problem.
I don’t know if people thought I was joking when I initially said it a few months back but I really do think he’d make a better midfielder than striker. Joelinton made a similar transition.
