Bournemouth have a pretty hefty injury list, yet I don't see many think pieces about Iraola's style being at fault Don't recall many about Eddie Howe's when Newcastle plummeted down the table like a stone due to injuries, either...
I think in Iraola’s case, part of the reason why there’s no/ little criticism is that he’s still getting Bournemouth well above expectations even with a mass injuries and they’re still playing good football too. They’ve hit a bit of rocky form the last few weeks but I don’t think anyone would’ve predicted them to be 9th so far this season and still within reach of European spots.
Possibly but those teams are mainly still in a decent league position. Spurs finished 5th last season and are currently 16th.
I have no idea but I do blame Ange for rushing Romero and VdV back so quickly only for both of them to get injured again. I also blame Ange for his system relying on VdV’s sprints when our back line is exposed and he’s susceptible to hamstring injuries.
The amount of muscle injuries this season to key players is definitely down to the style of play. The manager either needs to change that or have 4 quality players for each position (not realistic)
Number of injuries isn’t the way to look at it though. Number of games missed through injury is a better measure of the level of disruption before you account for factors such as squad depth, timing of injuries etc. A 3 month hamstring injury is more impactful than a 2 week knock. That injury happening in November/December when you’re playing 2/3 games a week constantly is way more impactful than it happening in August when you’re playing once a week. It’s about the overload it creates on the rest of the squad just as much as the impact of missing a particular player. Exhausted players are more liable to get injured themselves and make more mistakes in games.
That’s pretty much exactly what I said. He needs a squad of 22 players where both XIs are equal in quality for his style to ever really be sustainable in the Prem. Name a single club in world football with 22 equal calibre players
And these stats also cannot (on their own) establish the 'value' of the injured player. 3 months loss of Timo probably equates to 1 game of VdV....
I think the VAR delays are responsible a lot of the muscle injuries that happened to teams over the winter period
I've done mine and you have posted nothing new to me. The calculation is how many points the injuries have cost us. I estimate 12 to 20. I couldn't care less how much they have cost anyone else.
Said nobody ever...but I would recommend an old book called 'How to Lie with Statistics' which actually tells you how to use statistics properly.
I don't think the stats support your statement but you say it is definitely true so please show your workings. I am happy that 95% confidence is equivalent to definitely but most would require 99%.
As I posted earlier, the absence of Gabriel by himself costs Arsenal 0.6 points per game but people seem to find it odd that 6 to 12 players being missing might cost us about the same.
The stats is the amount of muscle injuries that Spurs have had. The man himself has said his style causes injuries
Ange previously admitted it does when at Celtic and I highly doubt his methods have changed here at Spurs, especially as we’ve had substantial injuries in both seasons so far, many of them muscle related, even more directly - hamstring related. Many people pull/ tear their hamstrings often through sprinting and Ange’s system is heavily reliant on sprints, both offensively and defensively.
