Tim Hortons (Canadian) is canny and we've been there a few times. Pricier but much more chilled out place.
60% chance of World recession. Well done Orange TIT Choppy waters ahead for the Dream Team Let's all buy British
We did worse than other countries man. Tories were also corrupt, or was Hancocks landlord a business wizard? https://inews.co.uk/news/politics/m...mJHVfNXJoOqtbiyEbfiC4dB1vtAOIGydkiFubn6oIwKeC https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/matt-hancock-defends-covid-vip-34892039 Statecraft
Difference being that Brexit was the self-inflicted result of Tory psychodrama and COVID would have probably saved them if they hadn't put so much effort into siphoning cash off to the VIP lane. It's less about the global events themselves and more about the response. 2008 crash was a global thing (despite Conservative attempts to paint it as a Labour failing) and that public understanding gave Osbourne the necessary cover to implement his ruinous austerity drive. Remains to be seen how the current lot respond, but there are less avenues available to them these days, so it's likely to be painful regardless.
I am not a fan of his. I think he oversimplifies stuff. What I would say though is he has hit a nail on a head with the statement we have no money, but Labour still need to govern. I dont recognise this Labour party as one I grew up supporting. I think they are cut from the same cloth as the conservative party. Both are hopeless. But one thing they could do that doesnt require money is tell us what the plan is. Tell us what they stand for. I used go get challenged on the old Boris thread for saying Labour need to tell us their plan. Folk would say they can show that in power. Well here we are, more than 10% through their term, and I still dont know what their plan for governing is. They are still blaming 14 years of conervative govt. About time they started saying how they will do things differently, or how they will fix things. It seems to me at least we have swapped one visionless govt for another. Just a glimmer of a light at the end of this endless tunnel would be nice. Even if they are honest and say we need 10 or 15 years, I would accept that. At least then I could have a bit more hope for my lads, who are both finding early adulthood is really hard in this country of ours. I have never, for one minute, felt Keir is the man to lead Labour, but I want to be proven wrong big time. It really is time to put those who voted you in first in your plans. Give them something to hang on to.
He's comedian FellTop, and his material should be viewed in that context. However if he touches a few nerves and pricks a few consciences in his performance that's fine by me.
Ah, I didnt know that I am not the sharpest tool... Mind you, he is no Tommy Cooper in the funny stakss
There is nothing that Jonathan Pie says that isn't true though. That's the thing about it, and the "character" allows him to do that. Puts a lot of so called journalists to shame.
I think that's what needs to be done, whoever is leading the country just needs to be honest. Like you said even if he turned around and said the country is ****ed and I need 15 years to fix it. My plan is by 3 years I'll have this done , by 5 years I'll have this done etc etc. I'd be fully behind them, at least you could hold them to their word and begin to trust them. I would continue to vote for them no matter which party they were the leader of. The problem I think we have is the I want it now society we have. Just look at some Sunderland fans, we got a new owner, he set out his plans, structure and time scale. Yet when we didn't achieve double promotion fans started to turn on him, yet he has been true to his word. I think that's why it's just easier for politicians to tell you what the other party has done wrong and promise you the earth just to get on to power
The problem I have with this government is they are **** scared of targeting the energy/water companies, but very happy to have a go at pensioners and the like.
The global stock markets look grim today. America now 50/50 for recession according to some. Others saying this is Trumps Truss moment. Probably all a bit beyond me, but we dont half seem to be heading into a bigger mess.
