I want to start by saying that I have nothing against any one for any reason, race, sexuality e.c.t. its not until you know a person until you can judge them and I am also a massive fan of Gary Speed because he was a tremendous servant to newcastle united.

anyway i am aware of a story was to be run in the Sun newspaper on the monday morning the day after with conclusive evidence stating that Gary Speed was not faithful to his wife but was indeed gay. Not that many nufc, leeds, everton fans would have cared much Gary felt the only way to prevent this from happening was to take his life, which has in a way has worked, but at what cost, not even knowing him i can tell he was an excellent father to his children and his accomplishments spoke for themselves. A true gentlemen, and even though the term is used loosely i mean it in every sense Gary Speed was a Legend no matter what

Heard the rumour before but no official confirmation that this is the case , right?

If it is true , serious questions need to be asked of the content of these ****ing red tops that have nothing better to do than stick their noses in other people's lives. It's a disgrace and I hope the person who was planning to publish the story is proud of himself.

But I repeat , won't believe it until it's confirmed.

    Just Twitter rumours, isn't it?

Until something concrete comes out, can't we keep all the rumours and speculation to a minimum? Doesn't really serve a purpose.

Posted it on a thread before but I will repeat as I cant find it. You can't have a problem with a paper publishing this if it is true as they are only printing factual information and trying to sell papers, as bad as it is that they do stick their noses in other peoples lives they can't have known Gary would kill himself over it (still dont know why they cant just stick to proper news mind). I have more of a problem with the people who actually are interested and buy this **** than the papers themselves. People create a market like this for red tops to thrive.

I'm still putting it down as bullshit Twitter rumours. Doubt we'll ever find out the truth anyway.

I think it's disrespectful that they don't let some people live their lives normally. Some things just shouldn't be published. There is something called privacy and some people fail to respect it week in week out. It's not the first time The Sun have caused controversy over something (Hillsbrough disaster) and it definitely won't be the last time.

Was told that this would be announced in the papers the next day a few days ago (Sunday I think). Still nothing so I really don't believe it.

Personally I think their silence speaks volumes. All the tabloids were very quick to say "we may never know the truth", draw a line under it and move on.

I hope that whatever it is stays a secret. His family have suffered enough already. Publishing the story does not serve any purpose other than giving people something to talk about. Any decent human being would allow his widow and children to grieve without any further heartache to deal with.........................but since when have journalists been decent human beings.

You are so right, the family are entitled to their privacy, and the sooner this story runs it's course the better.
I just want to see the end of it.

At the end of the day who gives a ****, Speedo is gone, that's the tragic thing. I don't care if was gay, having an affair, or if his wife was (which I highly doubt).

Gary Speed is gone, and that is all that matters. Can we please just let his memory RIP now, without delving into his personal life?

To be fair, the OP hasn't cleared anything up at all. All he's done is add to the thousands of pages of inconclusive gossip that continues to mount since Speedo passed away.

The article is a total contradiction.

Agree with this, however I would extend the boundaries to include celebrities who are still with us. Who gives a flying duck what lifestyle they lead...? We aren't their friends or family, our concern stops with their performance in whichever discipline it is they deal.

Being gay isn't an embarrassment, so its time for the attitude of the papers to move with the times. They have a responsibility to encourage civility among the gullible portions of society who absorb such trash-writing.

Whenever I see a big fuss over a sportstar coming out as gay, it boils my blood... WE DON'T CARE.
