    Probably true.

I'm just imagining Postecoglou telling Gareth Bale to hug the touchline to create space for Kyle Naughton to play as a number 10.

I think there is more emphasis on systems and athleticism these days. Pressing, tracking back, the ability to run all day and strength are essential now. Extremely talented players with either exceptional pace or skill can still thrive, but many of those from the past with above average ability wouldn’t succeed without being ultra fit too.
There is progression (of sorts) in all sports. Usually, it is fitter, faster, stronger rather more skilful or smarter.

That's the most damning criticism of Ange yet!

The fact that they were both more effective than Bentancur and Bissouma have been in Anges team is another damning indictment of his coaching

I know during the injury crisis we really scaled back training to avoid burning out or injuring who we had left

So, errrm...have we actually scaled up our training again in the last couple of months? Because if we haven't that would explain why the players don't seem to know who the bloke in the white shirt in front of them is, and instead we're coasting on muscle memory alone

The standard of coaching is so much higher across the board now, and while the wealthiest clubs still have a gap to the rest, even the less wealthy PL clubs have more cash than equivalent clubs in the other big European leagues. So better coaching across the board and better players too.

I think there are plenty of players today who could ball out like the players we remember from yesteryear if given the chance but the quality and organisation of the opposition is such that it’s a lot harder for them to do it. Go and watch a Premier League Years or something from the 2000s even and the way the defences are organised, the way the attacking teams move, even the pitches. There’s so much more time and space back then. It’s a different sport now.

why does the 4th richest and 5th richest clubs expect to get approximately 4 trophies each (in reality liverpool have way more than that) but the 6th richest is expected to be 0 (you tell us often that levy is on par/overachieving as hes made you better from 20 years ago)

Actually the fifth richest also rarely wins a trophy but I think both Liverpool and Arsenal had the 3rd or 4th most expensive squad for some years in the last 10 hence why they should expect some trophies
I am only quoting the data so I don't know the reason why. My guess would be that the standard of the players gets closer together as you go further down the price bands. So by the time you get to sixth place there is smaller advantage in wealth so random events play a larger part. I had a quick look at other sports and the sixth to tenth seeds in tennis seem each to have about the same chance of winning a grand slam and lower seeds also win occasionally. Very much the same pattern as football.

Ange or no Ange, this football club is going nowhere under the misery of ENIC & Levy, every single manager under their tenure has been left short, even those on the cusp of something special. We desperately need some owners who prioritize the football club and change the DNA created over the previous two or three decades, the regaining of some respect and removal of the spineless mentality that infests this once great club. Levy - fantastic businessman, useless football man, this is where almost all of this clubs problems lie, Levy has created a money spinning business while at the same time turning Tottenham Hotspur Football Club into a footballing irrelevance who nobody takes seriously anymore. The apathy among true fans has grown year on year, only the deluded, duped and hoodwinked are still behind Levy, stuck on his roundabout of failure, unable or afraid to jump off.

The data is (for all clubs concerned) :

    1. the trophy won
    2. the club PL table position in the season they won said trophy
    3. the club 'financial power' ranking (by revenue) in that season

    is it not ??

You apparently didn't notice that we were a footballing irrelevance when ENIC took over, stuck in mid-table and never in Europe.
Everything has been better since ENIC came on board.

Yep, two or three decades takes us back to Sugar, who was almost as bad, but at least we had the pleasure of some star signings like Klinsmann, Ginola etc to get excited about.

Modric, Bale, Kane and Walker would be in our best ever XI though.

You think Sugar was better than Levy? Really?
He bought the club to sell satellite dishes and it showed.
