Cocoa factory on Scrubs lane

Someone just asked me my favourite smell.

Out of nowhere I remembered walking from Willesden junction down Scrubs Lane with my Dad when I was about 10 and getting towards the overpowering smell of cocoa/ chocolate that came off the Lesme factory half way down.

It was just so exciting ...then getting to the ground.

Anyone else remember that

 

Absolutely! I loved that smell.

We lived there too for a short period

 

In Halifax, Nova Scotia we have a "Chocolate Lake" (a very deep flooded rock quarry) beside which Moir's (Pot of Gold) Chocolate factory was once located. Also beside this lake was a "party" apartment building where my partner once lived. Unfortunately one drunken idiot thought he could swim across the fairly narrow lake at night and never made it!

 

Also Peace by Chocolate located in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.

 

Mars factory in Slough, yea I went to Slough and lived to tell the tale.

 

Watching my local football club, Andover FC, whilst Dad hobnobbed with his business friends, my favourite HT entertainment was always a Mars bar, a bag of crisps (with the blue salt sachet) and a cherry flavoured fizzy drink!
