Bristol City v Watford F.C. A Cleverley "rocket" wasn't enough on Saturday: "We wasted 45 minutes against a team that we're good enough to beat," Cleverley told BBC Three Counties Radio. "We didn't play with enough tempo, enough desperation to score, enough penetration and there were too many unforced errors. There has to be a determination to break down that back line and I didn't see that. It's not just going to happen; you have to make it happen. The second half was how we should play. It was a more entertaining style, more direct, no mistakes. It's a bit of a head scratch how the ball's not found its way into the net, but that's the way it's been going for us. I've a lot of admiration for our second-half performance - how the players reacted to a bit of a rocket at half-time. There have only been two or three rockets this season. I feel the players are mentally strong enough to take them, otherwise I wouldn't do it. It probably wasn't my character when I was a player, but I have developed it. It's a stressful job." In all reality, I can't remember any really decent performances this season over the full 90+ minutes. These comments, maybe synonymous with a midtable team, seem to have been the norm. The lack of investment in the squad in January compounded this. Bristol City have play off ambitions of their own, sitting on the same points as 6th but in 8th position on goal difference. Watford are 4 points behind them. The rallying call of 9 cup finals to get into the play offs has fallen very flat with a 1-0 loss to Oxford and a 0-0 draw with Plymouth. The season is really fizzling out unless a really big win this Saturday renews faint hope. Team news to follow: ¡¡COYH COYH COYH!!
I imagine another drab game which we will lose by the odd goal.... unless we can make use of our possession going forward for a change and get a couple of goals....... but not optimistic
On the plus side, Baah should be available for the whole game. Unless TC doesn't realise that he was the catalyst for change against Plymouth.
Chakvetadze is nursing a toe problem and, with a three-game week, Watford are managing him through that.
Afternoon all, beautiful day here, hot hot One day I will take the short train journey from here to Bristol and watch us play.
